Lung cancer terminal symptoms

Lung cancer terminal symptoms

Lung cancer terminal symptoms:

The terminal symptoms of advanced lung cancer generally include symptoms of tumor compression, symptoms caused by invasion of adjacent tissues and organs, and symptoms caused by distant metastasis.

1. Symptoms of tumor compression: In the late stage, the tumor is getting bigger and bigger, which may block the trachea, often causing aggravated cough, and is also prone to obstructive pneumonia, lung tension, and necrosis of some tumor tissues, often causing fever. When the tumor compresses or invades the mediastinum, lymph nodes, and recurrent laryngeal nerve, it may also cause vocal cord paralysis and hoarseness. When the superior vena cava is compressed, it will cause swelling of the upper limbs or face, and may also cause headaches or drowsiness, blurred vision, etc.

2. Symptoms caused by invasion of adjacent tissues and organs: If the tumor invades the chest wall tissue extensively, it often causes chest pain or dull pain, which is more severe with coughing. It may involve the shoulders, chest, and back, and is mainly caused by tissues outside the chest wall. When the tumor metastasizes to the pleura or lungs, it often causes chest effusion.

3. Symptoms caused by distant metastasis: In the terminal stage, distant metastasis has already occurred, such as metastasis to the central nervous system, which often causes symptoms of increased intracranial pressure, mainly manifested as headache or nausea, vomiting, hemiplegia, aphasia, etc. Metastasis to the bones can cause bone pain, metastasis to the liver, abdominal distension or loss of appetite, liver pain, mental confusion, etc.

In addition to the above-mentioned manifestations, the terminal symptoms of lung cancer in the late stage may also include malignant lesions, mainly including extreme weight loss or weakness, systemic failure and other symptoms. Patients should cooperate with doctors in a timely manner for targeted treatment.
