What is liver cancer?

Liver cancer is usually a common liver malignancy, including primary liver cancer and secondary liver cancer.

Primary liver cancer is an epithelial malignant tumor that originates in the liver, and secondary liver cancer refers to a tumor formed by the metastasis of malignant tumors in other parts of the body to the liver. Due to the special blood supply characteristics of the hepatic artery and portal vein, the liver has become the most common organ for tumor metastasis, and nearly 50% of liver metastases in the human body can occur in malignant tumors of other organs.

The clinical symptoms of primary liver cancer are very atypical, and the symptoms are generally not obvious, especially in the early stages of the disease. Once clinical symptoms appear, they are often in the middle or late stages. There are two main aspects of clinical symptoms: manifestations of cirrhosis, such as ascites, collateral circulation, hematemesis, and limb edema; and symptoms of the tumor itself, such as weight loss, general fatigue, liver pain, and hepatomegaly. Depending on the patient's age and the type of lesion, it is also uncertain whether there are other lesions such as cirrhosis, so the overall clinical manifestations may also vary greatly.
