Reasons for chest tightness and air not being able to leave the lungs

There are many reasons for chest tightness and inability to expel air from the lungs. There are mainly two reasons. On the one hand, there is functional chest tightness, which means there is no organic disease, but it is just because of bad indoor air, bad outdoor air, fatigue, excessive exercise, etc. The other is pathological chest tightness, which is related to heart disease, diaphragm disease and metabolic problems.

1. Functional chest tightness

That is, symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath occurring without any organic disease. Staying in a room with closed doors and windows and poor air circulation for a long time, or encountering some unpleasant things, or even having quarrels or disputes with others, or being in a climate with low air pressure, will often cause feelings of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fatigue. After a short rest, opening windows for ventilation or going outside to breathe fresh air, relaxing your mind and regulating your emotions, you will soon return to normal.

Experts point out that due to the influence of anxiety, tension, emotional excitement, mental trauma and other factors, the central excitation and inhibition processes are disturbed, and the cardiovascular system regulated by the autonomic nervous system also becomes disordered, causing a series of symptoms of excessive sympathetic nerve tension. In addition, excessive fatigue, too little physical activity, and lack of proper exercise of the circulatory system result in the inability to adapt to the slightest activity or fatigue, thus producing an excessive cardiovascular response and symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath.

In addition, neurosis such as neurasthenia and autonomic dysfunction can also cause symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath. The most common subjective symptoms are palpitations, shortness of breath and general fatigue. There are also manifestations such as irritability, insomnia, sweating, trembling, dizziness and nightmares. For symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath caused by neurosis such as neurasthenia, necessary psychological treatment is needed to fundamentally relieve the symptoms.

2. Pathological chest tightness

That is, symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath caused by organic diseases. Experts point out that chest tightness can not only be physiological, but can also be caused by diseases in certain organs in the body, that is, pathological chest tightness. Common causes of pathological chest tightness include respiratory obstruction, lung disease, heart disease, diaphragm disease, fluid metabolism and acid-base balance disorders, etc.

Pathological chest tightness can occur suddenly or slowly. Most of the sudden occurrences are due to acute traumatic or spontaneous pneumothorax, acute asthma, acute foreign body in the trachea, acute heart attack, acute pulmonary infarction, etc. Chronic chest tightness is a condition in which symptoms gradually worsen as the disease progresses. Chest tightness in children is mostly caused by congenital heart disease or mediastinal tumors; chest tightness in young people is mostly caused by spontaneous pneumothorax, mediastinal tumors, or rheumatic heart valvular disease; chest tightness in the elderly is mostly caused by emphysema, coronary heart disease, etc.

Experts remind that if you often experience chest tightness, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, you need to pay special attention and go to the hospital for treatment in time.
