The recurrence rate of laryngeal cancer surgery is too high

Laryngeal cancer can be divided into primary and secondary. Primary laryngeal cancer refers to tumors mainly located in the larynx, among which squamous cell carcinoma is the most common. Secondary laryngeal cancer refers to the metastasis of malignant tumors from other parts to the larynx, which is relatively rare. The symptoms of laryngeal cancer mainly include hoarseness, dyspnea, cough, dysphagia, cervical lymph node metastasis, etc. High-risk groups should pay attention to quitting smoking, drinking moderately and prevention.

Laryngeal cancer is a common malignant tumor of the larynx. The occurrence of laryngeal cancer is closely related to smoking. Whether it is surgery or radiotherapy, laryngeal cancer has a certain possibility of recurrence, so follow-up after treatment is very important. Generally speaking, follow-up is required every three months within two years after surgery, and laryngoscopy is the most important examination method after laryngeal cancer surgery. If there are signs of recurrence, it can be directly observed through laryngoscope. The main symptoms of laryngeal cancer recurrence are sore throat and hoarseness. These early patients can be discovered through clinical symptoms. Local thickening, mucosal edema and the appearance of neoplasms can be seen through laryngoscope observation, which are all manifestations of laryngeal cancer recurrence.

After years of clinical research, it has been found that surgery is the most effective treatment for laryngeal cancer. Surgery and radiotherapy can achieve the same clinical effect for stage I and II laryngeal cancer. However, for advanced tumors, a comprehensive treatment method should be used, that is, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy at the same time can achieve a better 5-year survival rate. If the laryngeal cancer tumor cells are not completely removed, if there are residual tumor lesions or residual cervical lymph nodes during surgery, the tumor may recur. Even if the tumor is completely removed, it may recur again.

Symptoms of laryngeal cancer recurrence: (1) Sore throat. (2) Difficulty swallowing phlegm. (3) Severe coughing that may cause coughing up blood. (4) Difficulty breathing with larynx. (5) In the later stages, even the voice may be lost. (6) Neck lumps, etc. These symptoms are all signs of recurrence. If symptoms occur, the patient must go to the hospital for treatment in time to prevent the condition from worsening. Recurrence may be caused by not taking extra care.
