What are the factors that lead to bladder cancer?

Bladder cancer is not caused by a single factor, and it is also a gradual process. At present, the confirmed causes of bladder cancer are viral infection and chemical carcinogens acting on the bladder of the human body, which may also be caused by other factors. The following is an introduction to the factors that cause bladder cancer:

1. Cavity radiotherapy: Pelvic radiotherapy can also increase the risk of bladder cancer. Experts say that the risk of bladder cancer increases 2 to 4 times when patients receive pelvic radiotherapy for cervical cancer or ovarian cancer.

2. Tobacco: Tobacco may also cause bladder cancer. Studies have shown that 25% to 65% of bladder cancer patients smoke. Compared with non-smokers, smokers have a four-fold increased risk of bladder cancer. Smokers should pay attention to quitting smoking in time, as quitting smoking can reduce the risk of bladder cancer.

3. Occupational factors: Bladder cancer is also related to some occupational factors, such as exposure to benzene dyes, which is the most common industrial risk factor for bladder cancer. It has been reported that people in the following occupations have an increased risk of bladder cancer: auto workers, leather workers, metallurgical workers, mechanics, dry cleaners, papermakers, barbers, beauticians, garment workers and plumbers.

4. Urinary tract diseases: The urethral epithelium is subjected to chronic irritation for a long time, and the body's metabolic products increase the level of carcinogens in the urine, which can cause the urethral epithelium to proliferate and then become cancerous. For example, bladder squamous cell carcinoma is related to Schistosoma haematobium infection or bladder stones.

Bladder cancer is inseparable from urine, and urine is also closely related to drinking water. If the water contains carcinogens, it will increase the chance of bladder cancer. In addition, one thing that needs to be noted is that bladder cancer also has the characteristics of familial clustering, and the incidence rate in this group of people is about 2 times higher than that of the normal population.
