Characteristics of early vomiting in gastric cancer

Gastric cancer is a malignant tumor that seriously threatens human health. Early detection is crucial to improving treatment effectiveness and survival rate. In the early stages of gastric cancer, vomiting is a possible symptom, but it is often easily ignored. Its characteristics include frequent, irregular, changes in vomitus characteristics, accompanied by other symptoms, and weight loss. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Frequent vomiting: Vomiting in the early stages of gastric cancer may be more frequent. Patients may vomit repeatedly over a period of time, rather than occasionally as with common indigestion or gastrointestinal discomfort. This is because gastric cancer affects the normal function of the stomach, leading to gastric emptying disorders and food staying in the stomach for too long, causing frequent vomiting. For example, some patients may vomit shortly after eating, or even several times a day.

2. Irregularity: Unlike some regular vomiting caused by improper diet or specific diseases, vomiting in the early stage of gastric cancer usually has no obvious pattern. It may occur at any time and has no direct relationship with the time of eating, the type of food, etc. Patients may vomit suddenly when fasting, sleeping at night, or without any signs. This irregularity makes it difficult for patients to predict the occurrence of vomiting, which brings great trouble to life.

3. Changes in the properties of vomitus: Vomitus of early gastric cancer may show some special changes in properties. For example, the vomitus may contain blood or dark red blood, which is caused by the tumor invading the gastric mucosa and causing bleeding. The blood is mixed with the gastric contents and then vomited out. The vomitus may also have a strange smell, such as sour smell or rancid smell, which is because the digestive function of the stomach is impaired and the food ferments in the stomach to produce abnormal odors.

4. Accompanied by other symptoms: Vomiting in the early stage of gastric cancer is often not isolated, and is usually accompanied by other symptoms. For example, the patient may feel upper abdominal discomfort, dull pain, bloating, loss of appetite, etc. These symptoms may gradually worsen and affect the patient's eating and physical condition. If a combination of these symptoms occurs, you should be highly alert to the possibility of gastric cancer.

5. Weight loss: Frequent vomiting can lead to a decrease in the patient's food intake and poor nutrient absorption, which can cause weight loss. In the early stages of gastric cancer, weight loss may not be obvious, but if vomiting and other indigestion symptoms continue, weight loss will gradually occur. Some people may lose several pounds or even more than ten pounds in a short period of time, which is a signal worthy of attention.

If these symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention for a comprehensive examination in time to detect gastric cancer early and take effective treatment measures. At the same time, you should also pay attention to maintaining a good eating habit and lifestyle in your daily life, and have regular physical examinations to prevent the occurrence of gastric cancer.
