Will women who are infected with HPV definitely get cervical cancer? Experts teach you how to reverse it

HPV has become a familiar term nowadays, because it has been confirmed that almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infection, which makes people shudder at the mention of HPV. So, does HPV infection mean that cervical cancer will occur?

Will HPV infection cause cervical cancer?

The answer is no. In fact, HPV positivity, HPV infection and cervical cancer are not necessarily related. Even if HPV is positive, it is necessary to analyze the specific problem.

First, although HPV infection is the main cause of cervical cancer in medicine, the fact is that about 70% to 80% of people have been infected with HPV in their lives, but not all of them develop cervical cancer.

In fact, most HPV infections are transient. The human body can clear the virus by itself, so even if HPV infection occurs, about 70% of people will recover within 1 year, and 90% will recover within 2 years. This will not have much impact on the human body.

Secondly, whether HPV infection will develop into cervical cancer is also related to its subtype. According to the current discovery, there are more than 100 subtypes of HPV virus, and 70% of HPV viruses that cause cervical cancer are caused by HPV types 16 and 18.

Finally, it is also related to the duration of HPV infection. Only a very small number of HPV infections that persist for a long time will eventually develop into cervical cancer. The duration of HPV infection is mainly determined by the HPV subtype and the body's immunity. Low-risk HPV infection may last for 5-6 months, while high-risk HPV infection may last for 8-24 months.

So, what should you do if you find out that you are HPV positive?

In fact, most people have been infected with HPV. When you find that the HPV test is positive, you don’t need to be too nervous. You can take two steps to deal with HPV.

1. Most patients do not require treatment

First of all, most HPV viruses will be cleared by the human immune system, and there is currently no specific medicine for HPV. Therefore, when HPV is simply positive and does not cause warts, cervical lesions, cervical cancer and other related diseases, no treatment is required.

However, this does not mean that if the HPV test is positive, we can just ignore it and let the HPV virus die on its own. In this case, the first thing we should do is to enhance our immunity, do active exercise, have a good work and rest schedule, eat healthily, and relieve our emotions, so that we can eliminate HPV in our body through our own immunity.

In addition, special attention should be paid to not believing in folk remedies to avoid unnecessary injuries or harm that may affect your health.

2. Carry out screening and timely intervention

Among those infected with high-risk HPV, 5%-10% of women do have persistent infection. Generally speaking, if HPV infection persists for more than 14 months, there is a possibility of cervical precancerous lesions.

When precancerous lesions occur, it means that the benign disease caused by HPV infection has entered the transition stage to a malignant disease, which may take a long time of 10-15 years. During this period, as long as active screening and timely intervention are carried out, the goal of preventing cervical cancer can be achieved.
