Why do I get cervical cancer and what are the symptoms

Cervical cancer is usually caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, sexual behavior and sexual life factors, smoking and drinking, immune system abnormalities, long-term use of oral contraceptives, etc. It may cause symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, abnormal urination and defecation, physical weakness, etc. It is one of the common malignant tumors in women.

1. Reasons:

1. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection: HPV is a common sexually transmitted virus. Long-term infection with certain types of HPV may increase the risk of cervical cancer. Among them, high-risk HPV such as HPV16, 18, 45, etc. are closely related to the occurrence of cervical cancer. HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact, so maintaining safe sex, using condoms, and getting HPV vaccines are important measures to prevent cervical cancer.

2. Sexual behavior and sexual life factors: Multiple sexual partners, unclean sexual behavior, early sexual life (<16 years old), etc. are related to the occurrence of cervical cancer. These behaviors may increase the risk of infection with HPV and other viruses, thereby increasing the chance of cervical cancer. Therefore, maintaining a healthy sexual behavior and lifestyle is an important measure to prevent cervical cancer.

3. Smoking and drinking: Smoking and drinking may increase the risk of cervical cancer. Carcinogens in tobacco and alcohol may damage cervical cells, increase the likelihood of HPV infection, and accelerate the development of cervical cancer. Therefore, quitting smoking and limiting drinking can help prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer.

4. Immune system abnormalities: Immune system abnormalities may prevent the body from effectively clearing HPV infection, thereby increasing the risk of cervical cancer. Immune system abnormalities may be caused by genetic factors, autoimmune diseases, infections, and other factors. Maintaining a healthy immune system can help prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer.

5. Long-term use of oral contraceptives: Long-term use of oral contraceptives may increase the risk of cervical cancer and may also affect the body's resistance to HPV infection, thereby increasing the risk of cervical cancer.

2. Symptoms:

1. Abnormal vaginal bleeding: One of the most common symptoms of cervical cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding. This may include irregular menstrual cycles, prolonged menstrual periods, bleeding during menstruation, and after sexual intercourse.

2. Abnormal vaginal discharge: Patients with cervical cancer may have abnormal vaginal discharge, such as increased volume, abnormal odor, color changes, etc.

3. Pelvic pain: Late-stage cervical cancer may cause pelvic pain or discomfort, including lower back pain, pelvic pain or pressure.

4. Abnormal urination and defecation: Late-stage cervical cancer may put pressure on the bladder and rectum, leading to abnormal urination and defecation, such as frequent urination, urgency, constipation, etc.

5. Physical weakness: It may cause the body to be in a relatively weak state, and may also cause symptoms such as weakness in the limbs, mental fatigue, and mental depression.

The causes and symptoms of cervical cancer may vary from person to person, but if you experience any discomfort, it is recommended that you seek medical attention as soon as possible for examination and diagnosis.
