What does single-focal thyroid cancer mean

Thyroid cancer is a common malignant tumor of the thyroid gland, which can be divided into papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Unifocality means that there is only one lesion. In imaging examinations, such as ultrasound examinations and magnetic resonance imaging examinations, if there is a lesion in the thyroid gland, it indicates that the patient may have thyroid cancer and should be further diagnosed through serological examinations, pathological examinations, etc.

1. Serological examination: Serological examination can detect tumor markers such as thyroglobulin, free thyroxine, and calcitonin in the serum. If there is a significant increase, it indicates that the patient may have thyroid cancer;

2. Pathological examination: Pathological examination is the gold standard for diagnosing thyroid cancer. It can be done by puncture biopsy or postoperative pathological tissue sections to observe whether there are cancer cells under a microscope. If cancer cells are present, thyroid cancer can be diagnosed;

3. Imaging examination: Ultrasound examination can be used to observe whether there is a tumor in the thyroid gland. If there is a tumor, it can be judged as thyroid cancer. Some patients can use CT scans to determine whether there is lymph node metastasis. If there is metastasis, it can be judged as thyroid cancer with lymph node metastasis.

4. Others: If thyroid cancer is suspected before surgery, radionuclide iodine-131 radionuclide scanning can be performed. If the thyroid tumor is found to have the function of iodine uptake, it can be diagnosed as thyroid cancer. Some patients can also use bone scanning to determine whether there is bone metastasis. If bone metastasis occurs, it can be diagnosed as bone metastasis of thyroid cancer.

Patients suspected of having thyroid cancer should go to the hospital for relevant examinations in time, such as ultrasound, MRI, etc., and can be treated under the guidance of a doctor through surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc. to avoid delaying the disease. In daily life, you should pay attention to keeping a happy mood and avoid bad habits such as staying up late and overwork.
