Is it normal to have pits on the neck due to thyroid cancer?

The pits on the neck of thyroid cancer patients may be a normal phenomenon, or they may be related to thyroid cancer metastasis, lymph node enlargement, local tissue necrosis, etc. It is recommended that patients seek medical treatment in time and receive targeted treatment after completing relevant examinations.

1. Normal phenomenon: Thyroid cancer is one of the common malignant tumors. If the thyroid cancer is small in size and has no obvious clinical symptoms, it usually does not affect the neck. As the disease progresses, it may cause a mass in the thyroid gland, accompanied by symptoms of pain. If the thyroid cancer is large in size, it may compress the trachea or esophagus, causing difficulty breathing and swallowing. If the recurrent laryngeal nerve is compressed, hoarseness can be caused. At this time, you can follow the doctor's advice to treat it by surgical resection;

2. Thyroid cancer metastasis: If thyroid cancer metastasizes to distant sites, such as the cervical lymph nodes, it will cause pits on the neck. Patients can use chemotherapy drugs such as paclitaxel injection and cisplatin injection under the guidance of a doctor, or they can use radioactive iodine therapy as an auxiliary treatment;

3. Swollen lymph nodes: If you do not pay attention to your eating habits during the illness and often eat spicy and irritating foods, your lymph nodes may be irritated and swollen. This can also cause pits on the neck. Patients can improve this by applying hot compresses, or they can take amoxicillin capsules, cefixime capsules and other drugs for anti-infection treatment as prescribed by the doctor;

4. Local tissue necrosis: If the patient's condition is serious and has not received timely and effective treatment, it will lead to local tissue necrosis, thus forming a cyst, and you will feel a pit on your neck when you touch it. The patient can be treated by puncture aspiration or surgical removal of the lesion.
