How long can you live if thyroid cancer is not treated

Thyroid cancer does not depend on how long a patient can live. It needs to be analyzed based on the specific situation. Thyroid cancer is a common malignant tumor. If the patient does not receive treatment, the general survival time is short, which may range from a few months to a few years. However, if the patient receives comprehensive treatment such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc. in time, the survival time will be extended.

1. No treatment: The cause of thyroid cancer is still unclear. It may be related to genetic factors, or it may be caused by ionizing radiation or excessive iodine intake. After the disease occurs, the patient may develop a lump in the neck, and may also be accompanied by symptoms such as hoarseness and difficulty swallowing. If the patient does not discover the disease in time and does not receive treatment, as the disease progresses, it will lead to local metastasis, and in severe cases it may even be life-threatening. Therefore, it is impossible to determine how long a patient with thyroid cancer can live without looking at it;

2. Active treatment: Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor. If the patient actively cooperates with the doctor for treatment after the disease, such as following the doctor's advice to remove the lesion through surgery, and cooperates with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other auxiliary treatments, the spread and metastasis of cancer cells can be inhibited, thereby prolonging the patient's survival time. Usually, after active treatment, the 5-year survival rate of most patients can reach more than 80%.

It is recommended that patients with thyroid cancer go to the endocrinology department of the hospital in time for treatment, and follow the doctor's advice to complete blood routine examinations, ultrasound examinations, etc. to confirm the diagnosis. In daily life, pay attention to rest, ensure adequate sleep time, and avoid staying up late.
