What beverages should not be consumed by patients with thyroid cancer

In clinical practice, thyroid cancer patients should pay attention to avoid drinking carbonated drinks, greasy drinks, spicy and stimulating drinks, alcoholic drinks, etc., so as not to aggravate thyroid swelling or stimulate thyroid cancer proliferation, which is not conducive to disease recovery.

1. Carbonated drinks: Carbonated drinks contain carbonated water, pigments, sugar and other ingredients, which can irritate the throat mucosa, aggravate thyroid swelling, and cause neck pain. In addition, carbonated drinks contain phosphates, which can reduce calcium absorption and may cause osteoporosis. Long-term consumption of carbonated drinks may cause fractures or bone dysplasia.

2. Greasy drinks: such as fried dough sticks and fried cakes. Greasy drinks contain a lot of fat. Long-term intake of greasy drinks can lead to excessive fat in the body, increase the burden on the liver, and even induce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. It may also cause thyroid cancer to worsen.

3. Spicy and stimulating beverages: such as peppers, ginger, garlic, etc. Spicy and stimulating beverages contain a lot of capsaicin, caffeine and other ingredients, which can promote nerve excitement, aggravate thyroid swelling, and are not conducive to postoperative recovery. In addition, the caffeine and other ingredients contained in spicy and stimulating beverages can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, causing gastrointestinal discomfort symptoms such as stomach pain, and aggravate the patient's pain.

4. Alcoholic beverages: Alcoholic beverages contain a lot of alcohol. If you drink alcohol after thyroid surgery, it may affect the healing of the surgical incision and delay recovery.

In addition to the above-mentioned beverages, thyroid cancer patients should also be careful to avoid drinking strong tea, coffee and other stimulating drinks. In addition, thyroid cancer patients should go to the hospital's tumor surgery department in time, complete palpation, blood routine tests, color ultrasound examinations, etc. to make a clear diagnosis, and then follow the doctor's advice for active treatment.
