How much is the TSH controlled after hemisection of thyroid cancer

How much is the TSH controlled after hemisection of thyroid cancer

After hemisection of thyroid cancer generally refers to after hemisection of thyroid cancer. The principle of TSH control is to set a control target based on the risk of recurrence of thyroid cancer, but in actual application, there is no clear control target. Usually after hemisection of thyroid cancer, the target of TSH control should be less than five.

1. Low-risk patients with high risk of tumor recurrence: Under the premise of meeting the criteria for low-risk patients with high risk of tumor recurrence, if the postoperative TSH is controlled below five, the risk of recurrence is relatively low;

2. Patients with moderate risk of tumor recurrence: TSH is required to be controlled at a low level. The risk of recurrence is relatively high, but other factors should be considered comprehensively, such as the patient's age, the effect of thyroid hormone suppression therapy, etc.;

3. Patients with high risk of tumor recurrence: TSH is required to be controlled below 5. If the patient is young, the risk of recurrence is relatively high, and the TSH level can be appropriately lowered;

4. Patients with high risk of tumor metastasis: If the patient has already developed lymph node metastasis, lung metastasis, or bone metastasis, the TSH control range will increase accordingly. If the patient has already developed distant metastasis, the TSH control range may be even higher.

For patients who have undergone hemisection of thyroid cancer, regular testing of thyroglobulin antibodies, procalcitonin and other indicators is also required. For patients with a high risk of recurrence of thyroid cancer, they should go to the hospital regularly for testing of thyroglobulin and procalcitonin and other indicators to detect and treat them early.
