Prostate cancer often occurs in people over 70 years old. How to prevent prostate cancer

Prostate cancer refers to an epithelial malignant tumor that occurs in the prostate gland. In 2012, the incidence of prostate cancer in my country's tumor registration areas was 9.92/100,000, ranking sixth among male malignant tumors. The age of onset is relatively low before the age of 55, and gradually increases after the age of 55. The incidence rate increases with age, with the peak age being 70 to 80 years old. Patients with familial hereditary prostate cancer develop at a slightly earlier age, with 43% of patients aged ≤55 years old.

1. Obstruction symptoms

There may be dysuria, urinary retention, pain, hematuria or urinary incontinence. Urinary disorders: 80% of patients have progressive dysuria, thinning or deviated urine flow, bifurcated urine flow, prolonged urination, frequent urination, urgency, pain, and a feeling of incomplete urination caused by cancer. In severe cases, urine dripping and urinary retention occur. Only 3% of patients have hematuria.

2. Local infiltrative symptoms

The bladder-rectum space is often affected first. This space includes the prostate, seminal vesicle, vas deferens, lower end of ureter and other organ structures. If the tumor invades and compresses the vas deferens, it will cause low back pain and testicular pain. Some patients also complain of pain during ejaculation. Next, pain in other parts: pain in the waist, sacrum, buttocks, hips, pelvis, and sciatica are common and severe. About 31% of patients experience pain, which may be caused by cancer metastasis to bones or invasion of nerves or hydronephrosis and kidney infection.

3. Other metastatic symptoms

Metastasis is very common in prostate cancer patients. About 1/3 or even 2/3 of patients have lymph node metastasis when they first see a doctor, mostly in the iliac, iliac, waist, groin and other parts, with no obvious symptoms at first. In the later stage, it can cause enlarged lymph nodes in the corresponding parts and swelling of the lower limbs. Hematogenous metastasis is more common in bones (such as pelvis, sacrum, lumbar spine, upper femur, etc.) and internal organs (such as lungs, liver, brain, adrenal glands, testicles, etc.). There are also cases where prostate cancer is not discovered until the time of medical treatment due to nerve compression or pathological fracture caused by bone metastasis.

4. Systemic symptoms

Because the pain affects diet, sleep and spirit, after long-term torture, the overall condition becomes increasingly weak, with weight loss and fatigue, progressive anemia, cachexia or renal failure.

We know that men's prostate is relatively fragile, and if we don't pay attention, it will lead to the occurrence of diseases. Here are 6 kinds of food that can be eaten to prevent prostate cancer for your reference.

6 foods to prevent prostate cancer

Pumpkin seeds

The normal secretion of hormones by the prostate requires the help of fatty acids. Pumpkin seeds are rich in fatty acids, which can maintain the good function of the prostate. According to statistics, about 2% of prostate hyperplasia may deteriorate into prostate cancer. American researchers recommend that eating a handful of pumpkin seeds every day can help improve the symptoms of prostate hyperplasia and prevent prostate cancer.

orange

Oranges contain tangerine, nobiletin and vitamin C. Studies have found that a diet high in vitamin C can significantly reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

onion

Onions contain a compound called "quercetin", which is one of the most effective natural anti-cancer substances known so far. Experiments have shown that it can prevent mutations in cell biochemical mechanisms. Onions also contain the trace element selenium, which is a strong antioxidant that can help eliminate free radicals in the body and enhance cell metabolism.

Cabbage

A study involving 1,200 men found that men who ate cabbage had a 41% lower risk of prostate cancer.

kiwi

Kiwi fruit is rich in amino acids, and its vitamin C is 5 to 6 times that of the same amount of citrus. It also contains vitamin B1, carotene, calcium, phosphorus, iron and other nutrients. Especially the "anti-mutagenic ingredient" glutathione, it has a certain inhibitory effect on the mutation of cancer cells such as prostate cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.

chicken

One piece of chicken breast is enough to provide the selenium needed by the human body for a day. And statistics show that men who supplement with sufficient selenium every day are much less likely to die from prostate cancer.

Ways to prevent prostate cancer

Swimming properly

If men swim for 30 minutes every day, the possibility of developing advanced prostate cancer will be greatly reduced. Scientists say that swimming can improve disease resistance, promote local blood and lymph circulation in the prostate, and help subside inflammation of the prostate. Swimming can also help prostate cancer patients absorb drugs better, thereby improving the efficacy of drugs, and is also beneficial for symptoms such as neurological disorders and neurasthenia. Scientists recommend that men should swim for about half an hour every day. However, men who engage in relatively high-intensity sports such as cycling and gymnastics have a 30% higher chance of developing prostate cancer than the former. So try to avoid competitive sports.

More sunshine

Epidemiological surveys have also found that older men living in high latitudes in the north are more likely to die from prostate cancer. This is related to their relatively low levels of vitamin D in their bodies. It is best to get 10 minutes of sun exposure every day to help the body naturally produce enough vitamin D.

Do not smoke or drink excessive amounts of alcohol

But moderate red wine is good for preventing prostate cancer.
