Symptoms of drug-induced kidney damage

In our body, kidneys are very important metabolic organs. When waste appears in our body, it is excreted through the kidneys. Therefore, once there is a problem with the kidneys, a lot of toxins and waste will increase in the body. In daily life, many medicines are actually harmful to our kidneys. So do you know the symptoms of drug-induced kidney damage?

1. Antibiotics. Antibiotics are the most widely used class of drugs in clinical practice and are also the drugs most likely to cause kidney damage. Common antibiotics that can cause kidney damage include:

Aminoglycosides, represented by gentamicin, amikacin, tobramycin, and streptomycin, are prone to cause acute tubular necrosis and acute renal failure;

Cephalosporins, the representative drugs are the first generation cephalosporins, such as cephalosporin I, cephalosporin II, cephalosporin V, cephradine, and cefoperazone, which are prone to cause acute interstitial nephritis and renal tubular necrosis;

Penicillins, represented by methicillin, ampicillin, and penicillin, are prone to cause acute interstitial nephritis, acute allergic vasculitis, glomerulonephritis, and acute renal failure.

2. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs, including various cold medicines, such as metamizole, acetaminophen, and compound pseudoephedrine hydrochloride sustained-release capsules; painkillers, such as ibuprofen, indomethacin, naproxen, diclofenac sodium preparations, compound acetaminophen tablets, celecoxib, etc., may cause kidney damage.

In fact, most of these drugs are over-the-counter drugs and are safe if taken according to the instructions. The main reason why renal failure is easily caused is due to overdose. For example, many people think that one cold medicine takes a long time to work, and taking several more can make it better faster. So they take several cold medicines together, which will inevitably result in overdose and cause kidney damage.

3. Traditional Chinese medicine. Many people have always believed that Chinese medicine can "cure the root cause" and "has no side effects." In fact, many Chinese medicines have serious nephrotoxicity. Abuse of traditional Chinese medicine is a common cause of renal failure in my country, and it has even been specifically named "Chinese herbal nephropathy" internationally.
