What are the causes of liver cancer? Is liver cancer divided into benign and malignant?

With the deterioration of the environment and the increase in food safety risks, various cancers have occurred frequently in recent years, especially liver cancer, which is almost in the middle and late stages when it is discovered. Patients and their families suffer great pain and economic burden. For this reason, experts interviewed Gao Pengji, chief physician of Peking University People's Hospital online to introduce in detail: What are the causes of liver cancer? Is liver cancer divided into benign and malignant?

What are the causes of liver cancer?

There are many causes of liver cancer: 1. Viral hepatitis, mainly chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C. These viruses grow and multiply in liver cells, destroying the fusion of cells and chromosome genes; 2. Long-term intake of aflatoxin can damage human liver cells and induce the formation of liver cancer; 3. Bad habits, such as long-term smoking and intake of pickled foods.

What should liver cancer patients do when they feel pain?

When liver cancer patients are in pain, treatment is carried out according to the specific situation: 1. When mild pain occurs, drugs such as Fenbid and Tramadol can be used; 2. When the pain is severe, drugs such as Hydrocodone, OxyContin, and MSContin can be used to relieve symptoms; 3. In the late stage of liver cancer, medication must be taken on time to improve the patient's quality of life. Early liver cancer can be relieved by surgical resection, while mid- and late-stage liver cancer can only control symptoms through a series of treatments.

Is there a difference between benign and malignant liver cancer?

There is no distinction between benign and malignant liver cancer. Liver cancer refers to tumors that originate from the liver epithelium. Depending on the pathology, there are primary hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic bile duct cancer, tumors in other parts of the body, and secondary liver cancer that metastasizes to the liver. No matter which type of liver cancer it is, it is a malignant tumor that develops rapidly, is prone to metastasis, and endangers the patient's life. Therefore, once liver cancer is diagnosed in the clinic, it should be treated as soon as possible.

Through Dr. Gao Pengji’s introduction, everyone should have a clearer understanding of liver cancer. Everyone must develop good living habits and strengthen physical exercise. Patients must face the disease positively and defeat the disease.
