How do children get liver cancer? Parents must know these common sense to prevent liver cancer

Children with hepatoblastoma generally have no symptoms in the early stage. About 10% of the parents of the children accidentally discover a mass in the abdomen of the children. As the disease progresses, clinical manifestations mainly include digestive symptoms, such as loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and bloating, poor spirits, and progressive weight loss. In the late stage, ascites, dyspnea caused by compression of the huge tumor, and related symptoms and signs of tumor metastasis may appear. Some male children may show signs of precocious puberty.

Experts say that surgical resection is the first choice and most effective treatment for hepatoblastoma. Adjuvant chemotherapy can greatly improve the tumor resection rate and allow 75% of patients who are not suitable for surgery to have a delayed surgery opportunity. With the continuous development of imaging and interventional technology, the use of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) to treat patients who are not suitable for surgery has also become an option. In some cases, when the tumor cannot be completely removed despite preoperative chemotherapy or TACE, in situ liver transplantation is also a solution.

Be careful about eating liver cancer

It is related to bad living habits and eating habits. Once the diet often contains carcinogens, it is easier to promote liver cancer. Therefore, Professor Zhang warned people to establish a reasonable and healthy diet structure, develop good eating habits, master some knowledge of diet to prevent cancer, and be careful not to "eat" cancer.

1. Avoid eating moldy food

Aflatoxin in fungi is a carcinogen that can induce liver cancer in humans, monkeys, mice, and poultry. The shortest time required to cause cancer is 24 weeks. To prevent fungi from contaminating food, you should pay attention to the following:

1. Peanuts, corn, sweet potatoes, rice, millet, etc. stored at home must be dried thoroughly and stored in a dry and ventilated environment.

2. Moldy peanuts, dried potatoes, dried radishes, etc. should be discarded and cannot be eaten by humans, livestock or poultry.

3. Peanut oil and cottonseed oil should not be stored for a long time. When a large amount of grain, oil or dairy products are suspected to be contaminated with fungi, the quarantine station should be asked to check and they can only be distributed, sold or consumed after approval.

2. Animal and vegetable oils that have a rancid smell should not be consumed

Stale oils contain a chemical component that can cause the structure of proteins to mutate, causing cells with mutated proteins to lose their normal functions and transform into early cancer cells. In addition, the replication of acids in some chemical components accelerates the aging process. Therefore, animal and vegetable oils should not be stored for too long, and oils that have deteriorated and have a rancid smell should not be eaten. Foods fried in rancid oils not only taste bad, but more importantly, they can cause cancer and shorten life.

3. Rice bran fiber can prevent cancer

Researchers from the Fukuoka Prefecture Public Health Pollution Center and the National Cancer Center in Japan found that rice bran is rich in B vitamins, which is beneficial for liver protection. If people with liver disease or long-term carriers of hepatitis B surface antigen regularly use rice bran to adjust their diet to absorb and excrete harmful substances in the digestive tract, it is indeed a way to prevent digestive tract cancer.
