What kind of people are prone to liver cancer? Eating more of this food can easily lead to liver cancer

In our daily life, ginger occupies a large proportion. In Chinese cuisine, ginger is used to remove various odors and serve as a condiment for various dishes. In addition, ginger can be boiled into ginger tea to remove moisture and cold. It is not only a common ingredient, but also a Chinese herbal medicine. Therefore, there is a common saying among the people that "rotten ginger does not taste rotten". People think that ginger can be eaten no matter what state it is in. This view is fundamentally wrong.

Ginger has many health-preserving functions such as promoting blood circulation, dispelling cold, and removing dampness. It can promote bile secretion, strengthen the spleen, and stop vomiting. However, the safrole component of ginger may cause liver cancer. No matter how good ginger is, it is not good to use it too much. Because the ginger we eat daily contains safrole, if you eat too much ginger in your life, it will increase the risk of liver cancer. Ginger can easily increase the risk of liver cancer. Although ginger is good, avoid excessive consumption. In addition, rotten ginger produces toxins that can also cause cancer. Some people think that "rotten ginger does not taste rotten". This idea has no scientific basis and is also very dangerous, because rotten ginger produces toxins, which can cause liver cancer and esophageal cancer in severe cases.

Safrole, a component of ginger, may cause liver cancer

Research by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shows that safrole can cause liver cancer. Adding 0.04% to 1% safrole to the feed of mice for 150 days to 2 years can induce liver cancer in mice. The process by which safrole is metabolized into active carcinogens is now relatively clear: safrole is first metabolized into phenylethanol in the mouse body, and then activated and converted into acetate or sulfate, becoming the final carcinogen. If safrole combines with oxidants, it will produce epoxy safrole with stronger carcinogenic activity.

Safrole is no longer allowed as a food additive in the United States. Recently, the European Union Expert Committee decided to further reduce the permitted dosage of safrole within the EU to reduce its harm to the human body. The Codex Alimentarius Committee on Food Additives is currently initiating the formulation of the "Guidelines for the Use of Flavors", which stipulates that the maximum limit of safrole in food and beverages is 1 mg/kg.

There is an old Chinese saying that "moderation is good enough" and "too much is as bad as too little". Therefore, everything should be done in moderation, just like ginger. Eating less can strengthen the body, but eating more can easily lead to liver cancer. Liver cancer is the second most common malignant tumor in my country. According to statistics, about 260,000 people die of liver cancer every year in the world, and nearly 100,000 in my country. Liver cancer has become one of the diseases that seriously endangers human health and life, and should be taken seriously. People with liver cancer will experience symptoms such as pain in the liver area, digestive tract symptoms, fever, bleeding tendency, and body joint pain. If you find any discomfort in your body, it is best to go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid missed diagnosis.

What kind of people are prone to liver cancer?

(I): From a geographical perspective. my country is one of the countries with a high incidence of primary liver cancer, with an annual incidence of 5-10/100,000 people. About 300,000 people die from primary liver cancer each year, ranking third among all malignant tumors. The incidence in the southeast coastal areas is higher than that in the inland areas, with Guangxi, Jiangsu and a certain place in Guangdong being the highest, and Yunnan and Guizhou being the lowest. The incidence in men is higher than that in women, with a male-to-female ratio of about 2-8:1.

(II): Age classification. In the past, it was generally believed that the high-risk age for liver cancer was 40-60 years old, but recent clinical cases have confirmed that patients have gradually become younger. The author has treated two 13-year-old patients. Therefore, the current high-risk age for liver cancer is generally believed to have moved forward by ten years, that is, 30-60 years old. This is related to the environmental deterioration in recent years and many other factors, and the higher the incidence area, the lower the age.

(III): Classification based on family medical history. In the past, it was believed that cancer was not hereditary or contagious, but in recent investigations and studies, scholars have unanimously agreed that cancer is hereditary and still believes that it is not contagious. Although the mechanism of inheritance cannot be explained clearly, it has been clinically confirmed, so we can only admit it first and then slowly study and explain it. There are also many similar "family" cases in the data. From a medical point of view, it is "due to a certain genetic defect in the body, the offspring have a tendency to be prone to a certain disease, that is, genetic susceptibility."

Modern medicine believes that 5%-10% of human tumors are related to genetic factors, but in the occurrence of most tumors, it refers to the susceptibility and tendency to carcinogenic factors. Only a few uncommon tumors are directly related to heredity.

(IV): Patients with liver diseases. A large amount of clinical data shows that the probability of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis and liver cirrhosis is dozens of times that of healthy people. At the same time, it is believed that the so-called HBsAg positive (HBsAg positive is commonly known as healthy carriers) belongs to the category of chronic hepatitis, so they are also a high-risk group for liver cancer. This type of patients is often seen in clinical practice.

(V): People aged 30-60 who have been overworked for more than one year. Every healthy person has a large number of heterogeneous cells in their body. These cells are constantly generated throughout a person's life and are constantly killed or automatically died by the body's immune cells. Once the immune system declines for a period of time, coupled with the stimulation of certain unknown substances, some heterogeneous cells can escape the pursuit and develop into cancer cells. In clinical practice, it is found that many liver cancer patients have a history of continuous overload work for more than one year.

Modern medicine believes that normal human bodies contain proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Proto-oncogenes in cells must be activated to have transformation and carcinogenic effects, while tumor suppressor genes must be completely inactivated to have carcinogenic effects. Proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in normal cells balance and restrict each other, regulating cell division, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. When proto-oncogenes are activated and tumor suppressor genes are inactivated, it leads to abnormal regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, causing uncontrolled cell proliferation and differentiation disorders, leading to the gradual appearance of irreversible malignant phenotypes in cells and the formation of malignant tumors.

We must pay attention to this in our daily lives. People with liver disease, people with unclean diets and people with bad habits must have regular physical examinations to prevent themselves from developing liver cancer.
