What is the reason for more pain after interventional treatment for liver cancer

Pain after interventional treatment of liver cancer may be caused by factors such as tumor necrosis, bile duct injury, incision reaction, drug effects, and tumor cell metastasis.

1. Tumor necrosis: Interventional treatment of liver cancer refers to local chemotherapy that injects anticancer drugs into the hepatic artery. After drug injection, tumor cell necrosis may cause tissue damage and aggravate pain symptoms.

2. Damage to the bile duct: Anticancer drugs circulate through the hepatic artery and metabolize to the bile duct, which may cause damage to the bile duct tissue, causing biliary colic and aggravating pain symptoms.

3. Incision reaction: Interventional treatment requires a certain incision on the patient's body surface to facilitate the injection of drugs. If the individual's physique is more sensitive, the incision on the body surface may cause emotional tension and aggravate the pain.

4. Drug effects: Anticancer drugs can damage not only tumor tissues but also normal tissues. Patients have different tolerances to drugs, and injection of anticancer drugs may cause normal tissue necrosis and increased pain.

5. Tumor cell metastasis: Although anticancer drugs can inhibit and kill local tumor cells in the liver, tumor cells have already metastasized during the interventional treatment of liver cancer and may recur after treatment, leading to worsening of pain symptoms.

When the pain after liver cancer interventional treatment is unbearable, it is recommended to consult analgesics such as pethidine hydrochloride injection and buprenorphine hydrochloride sublingual tablets to relieve the pain. Nursing staff should do a good job of comforting patients, provide good mental support for patients, and reduce their anxiety.
