Why do you have cold hands and feet? You should know these common sense

Colds and fevers often cause cold hands and feet, especially for babies whose hands and feet are prone to coldness when they have a fever. This means that the baby's body temperature will continue to rise. Therefore, parents should not rush to cool the baby down. They should warm up the hands and feet first and then cool them down.

1. The body temperature is controlled by the temperature center of the hypothalamus. If there is inflammation in the body, the temperature center will increase the temperature set point in order to enhance immunity and inhibit pathogenic bacteria. To reach a higher body temperature, the body needs muscle tremors to generate heat and constrict surface blood vessels to reduce heat loss, so when you have a fever, your hands and feet feel cool.

2. When a high fever is caused by slow blood circulation, the body's peripheral blood vessels contract and blood circulation is relatively slow, so the hands and feet are cold; it may also be that when you have a fever, the two-way feedback of the body's temperature regulation center causes the body's blood to flow to the heart and brain to ensure blood supply to important organs such as the heart and brain, so the extremities have relatively less blood supply, so they are cold.

3. The nervous system has not yet fully developed. Cold hands and feet when having a fever are more common in children, which is related to the fact that children's body functions have not yet developed. Because the development of children's nervous system is not yet complete, the autonomic nervous system responsible for managing vasodilation and contraction is prone to disorder, resulting in the small blood vessels at the ends of the limbs being in a spasmodic contraction state and becoming cold when high fever first occurs.

4. Related to environmental temperature: When you have a fever , the peripheral blood circulation of the limbs is relatively not as good as before, and the blood supply to the limbs is also reduced. If the temperature of the surrounding environment is low and the hands are exposed to the outside for a long time, cold hands and feet will appear.
