What is squamous cell lung cancer? Introduction to the treatment of squamous cell lung cancer

Squamous cell lung cancer is a type of squamous cell carcinoma and spindle cell carcinoma of the lung, which is the most common type. This disease often occurs in elderly men and is closely related to smoking. It grows slowly, metastasizes late, has a high chance of surgical resection, and has a high survival rate.

Many cancers are closely related to behavioral and eating habits in life. The clinical manifestations of squamous cell lung cancer are generally fever, cough, blood in sputum or hemoptysis, and chest pain. This disease is closely related to smoking, so if you have similar symptoms, you must go to the hospital for timely treatment. Let's take a look at the specific manifestations of this type of disease.

Fever first occurs in 20% to 30% of patients. It is an inflammatory fever that often blocks the lung segment or bronchial opening first, causing obstructive pneumonia or atelectasis in the corresponding lobe or segment, but the temperature is mostly around 38°C and rarely exceeds 39°C. Antibiotic treatment may be effective and the shadow may be absorbed, but due to poor drainage of secretions, it often recurs. About 1/3 of patients may repeatedly develop pneumonia in the same part within a short period of time. Cough is the most common symptom, accounting for 35% to 75% of patients with cough as the first symptom. Cough caused by squamous cell lung carcinoma may be related to changes in bronchial mucus secretion, obstructive pneumonia, pleural invasion, atelectasis and other intrathoracic complications.

There are generally four methods for treating squamous cell lung cancer:

First: Squamous lung cancer surgical treatment Since squamous lung cancer metastasizes later, the prognosis is better after surgical resection, so surgical treatment is the preferred treatment method. For all stage I, stage II and selected stage IIIA patients, we should strive to radically remove the tumor and clear the lymph nodes in the region.

Second: chemotherapy for squamous cell lung cancer. Squamous cell lung cancer is more sensitive to the first chemotherapy cycle, with a treatment efficiency of up to 25%. The second chemotherapy cycle can reach 15%, and the third cycle is only 5%. After three cycles, the chemotherapy efficiency is basically zero.

Third: radiotherapy for squamous cell lung cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma is moderately sensitive to radiation, and the lesions are mainly local invasion. However, due to its relatively slow metastasis, it is mostly used as an adjuvant treatment after radical surgery.

Fourth: Traditional Chinese medicine treatment of squamous cell lung cancer. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment of squamous cell lung cancer can cooperate with surgery and chemotherapy to play a synergistic and enhancing role, and can also reduce toxic and side effects during treatment. It is also suitable for the treatment of patients in the middle and late stages with weak constitution who cannot adapt to surgical treatment and chemotherapy.

This disease has a very high chance of being cured. As long as the patient goes to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, he or she will be able to recover. After recovery, the patient must follow the doctor's advice and pay attention to some daily habits to avoid recurrence. In this regard, I hope that patients will not forget the pain they suffered in the initial treatment after they recover. This kind of thing must not be done.
