Brain protein demyelination_brain atrophy brain white matter demyelination

The symptom of brain protein demyelination can cause atrophy of brain tissue. This is mainly because this disease is an infection in the brain tissue and a symptom of poisoning of the brain tissue. Therefore, the symptoms of brain protein demyelination should be examined by X-ray and CT methods. After the disease is detected, traditional Chinese medicine or surgery should be used for treatment.

1. Traditional X-ray diagnosis

Plain X-ray examination can show progressive head enlargement caused by spongiform encephalopathy (Canavan's disease), but no positive findings are found for other types of white matter diseases. Ventriculography and pneumoencephalography can show changes in brain atrophy in the late stage of white matter disease. When multiple sclerosis plaques are large, cerebral angiography may show vascular displacement, but most white matter disease lesions show negative changes in angiography. In short, the diagnostic value of traditional X-ray examination for white matter diseases is very limited.

2. CT diagnosis

CT has high density resolution and spatial resolution. A plain scan can clearly distinguish the white matter and gray matter of the cerebral hemispheres and cerebellar hemispheres. Enhanced CT scanning can increase the display capability of white matter lesions. However, CT has low soft tissue contrast resolution and poor visualization of the brainstem and cerebellum. Therefore, CT cannot fully display certain white matter lesions, and its positioning and qualitative diagnostic capabilities are limited.

3. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) diagnosis

MRI is the most sensitive method for showing white matter and white matter lesions, and T2-weighted images are more sensitive. In addition to the transverse section, the coronal section scan should also be included. Some pathological changes can only be fully displayed on the coronary T2-weighted images. The myelin deposition process shown on T2-weighted images correlates well with myelin staining findings on autopsy sections. In sagittal sections, MRI can show the development of the brainstem white matter. If a conventional scan reveals abnormal white matter signals, an enhanced scan may be performed to determine the severity and activity of the lesion and to perform differential diagnosis.
