Why is liver cancer prevention a tough problem in rural areas? You should know these liver cancer common sense

Liver cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the liver and is highly malignant. China's liver cancer mortality rate leads the world. There are about 3.12 million new cancer cases in my country each year, and on average, 6 people are diagnosed with cancer and 5 people die from cancer every minute. Among them, lung cancer, stomach cancer, and liver cancer have become the cancers with the highest incidence and mortality rates, with liver cancer ranking third.

Experts said: "The current vaccine is mainly mandatory in cities, but most people in China still live in rural areas. Better control of hepatitis B in cities does not mean an improvement in the overall situation in the country."

Farmers have lower education levels than urban residents and are less interested in scientific knowledge. Experts believe that with the effective implementation of the family planning policy, there are fewer and fewer children in cities, but relatively speaking, there are more young people in rural areas. "The proportion of children with hepatitis B among those with better economic conditions and better medical conditions and education is decreasing, while the number of children with poorer medical conditions is increasing."

A survey shows that the hepatitis B vaccination rate of newborns in rural areas is relatively low, and the timely vaccination rate of the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine for babies born at home is only 31.4%, which is 53.1 percentage points lower than that of babies born in county-level hospitals or above (data from 2010). Moreover, according to the main data bulletin of the sixth national census in 2010, the rural population has decreased by 133,237,289 people compared with the fifth census, and the proportion of urban population has increased by 13.46 percentage points. This shows that the proportion of rural-born population is still large, and more and more rural population is moving to cities, which is very unfavorable to the control of hepatitis B.

Therefore, my country must adhere to the policy of comprehensive hepatitis B vaccination and ensure that newborns receive active and passive combined immunization. In addition, we must firmly grasp the vaccination work in rural areas, do a good job in monitoring high-risk groups, carry out efficient, creative and popular hepatitis B science publicity in rural areas, and help interpret the new hepatitis B policy with easy-to-understand content. We must also strengthen the prevention and treatment awareness of primary medical institutions, starting from the perinatal and neonatal period to curb the development of hepatitis.

Experts remind everyone: Research has found that bamboo shoots, asparagus, and lettuce can effectively prevent liver cancer. In addition, virus carriers, people in rural areas who eat moldy food for a long time, and high-risk groups with a family history of genetic diseases can effectively prevent primary liver cancer if they eat fruits such as raspberries, grapes, apples, etc. for a long time.
