Guidelines for the use of medication for pleural effusion caused by lung cancer

Bad habits such as smoking and alcoholism have led to a gradual increase in the incidence of lung cancer in my country. As the disease worsens, patients may develop a large amount of pleural effusion. According to statistics, 1% of lung cancer patients have pleural effusion when diagnosed. The more commonly used drugs are the following.

1. Adipine: Its reaction rate is about 64% to 88%. This drug can cause inflammation and adhesion in the pleural cavity, and the gap disappears. At the beginning, 50 to 100 mg can be dissolved in 10 ml of saline and injected into the pleural cavity. If the patient's reaction is not severe, 100 to 200 mg can be injected every 2 to 5 days until the fluid is reduced. 600 to 800 mg can also be injected once. Doctors should reasonably choose the dosage according to the amount and nature of the patient's pleural effusion. The main reactions of patients after taking the drug are fever and local pain, and some patients also have hypotension.

2. Nitrogen mustard: Strictly follow the principle of aseptic operation, drain the patient's pleural effusion as much as possible, dilute it with 200ml of normal saline at 0.4mg/kg, and inject it into the chest cavity at one time. The maximum amount at one time should not exceed 20mg. Immediately after the injection, let the patient change his position in multiple directions to ensure that the liquid is evenly distributed on all the inner surfaces of the chest cavity. This should last for about 15 minutes. It can be done once a week. The effective rate is 55% to 87%. Pay attention to bone marrow function and body condition before and after taking the medicine every week.

3. Tetracycline: Tetracycline is used as a sclerosing agent to treat cancerous pleural effusion. Generally, a closed catheter is placed in the chest cavity, 500 mg of tetracycline is dissolved in 30 ml of normal saline and injected into the chest cavity, and then 10 ml of normal saline is injected to clean the pipeline. The catheter is clamped for 6 hours and the patient is asked to change position continuously. Then the drainage tube is connected to negative pressure suction for about 24 hours, and the drainage tube is removed after confirming that there is no liquid. This method can effectively reduce pleural effusion in the body.

What are the methods of lung cancer surgery?

Surgical treatment of lung cancer lays the foundation for the treatment of lung cancer. However, surgery alone cannot completely cure lung cancer patients. Therefore, we need some other treatment methods to cooperate with surgical treatment of lung cancer.

Surgical treatment of lung cancer in the early stages is often accompanied by complications of varying degrees. While surgically removing the tumor, it can be combined with Chinese medicine for consolidation treatment, which can effectively kill residual cancer foci, enhance the patient's immune function, and promote postoperative recovery. Experts suggest that combining traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine treatment can strengthen the body, effectively reduce the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, protect bone marrow hematopoietic function, improve the efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and enhance the body's immunity.

A large amount of clinical data confirms that Chinese medicine has significant efficacy in treating early lung cancer, with few side effects and a wide range of indications. It can not only make up for the shortcomings of Western medicine, but also treat the disease based on syndrome differentiation, inhibit the growth and proliferation of cancer cells, control the symptoms of diffusion and metastasis, improve the efficacy, and prolong the effective survival of patients. Characteristics of surgery in the early treatment of lung cancer: surgical treatment can achieve good results in the early stage, but it is not satisfactory for the treatment of advanced lung cancer. Since advanced malignant tumors often have multiple metastases, palliative surgery can only be used for resection, but it is easy to have residual cancer cells, which can easily lead to recurrence and metastasis, and the physical constitution of advanced patients cannot bear it.

It is worth mentioning that Chinese medicine treatment is indispensable in the treatment of advanced lung cancer, and conservative treatment with Chinese medicine plays a great role in relieving the pain of patients. The combination of Chinese medicine and surgery in the treatment of lung cancer is very effective.
