Coconut shelf life

Coconut shelf life

Coconut is a common tropical fruit with high nutritional value. Drinking some coconut juice in the summer can quench thirst and relieve heat. Coconut also has a certain shelf life. The shelf life of the coconuts we usually buy is generally long or short. The longest can be up to about 30 days, and sometimes it is shorter, only 3 to 5 days. Therefore, it is best to eat the coconuts within the shelf life after buying them.

Coconut Shelf Life

Shelf life of green coconut with skin: It is found that the shelf life of the same green coconut with skin on major e-commerce platforms varies greatly, some are marked as 15 days, 30 days, and even 3-5 days. The recommended insulation temperature is: 15-18℃

But some people say that at room temperature, 1.2 years is fine. Because coconut is a great source of water storage and food storage, the coconut shell is thick, preventing the water from evaporating. Some coconuts can float in the sea for 2 years and still remain intact!

So if it is a green coconut, you can ignore the shelf life and just drink it slowly. After all, ordinary people can't buy much at a time.

Shelf life of young coconut: about 15 days, storage temperature recommended 0~4℃

Coconut King Shelf Life: About 1 year. Baidu knows that about 30 days is pure nonsense. The recommended storage temperature is 0~10℃

Hainan Coconut

Taste: Coconut water tastes light

Hainan coconuts sold on general e-commerce platforms are high-quality coconuts.

There are two types of coconuts: red coconut and green coconut. Gaojiao coconut can be divided into three types according to the shape and volume of the fruit: large round fruit, medium round fruit and small round fruit. Tall coconut palms can reach a height of 25m, while dwarf coconut palms are only about 15m tall. The economic life of tall coconut palm is much longer than that of dwarf coconut palm: the economic life of tall coconut palm is about 80 years, while that of dwarf coconut palm is only about 20 to 40 years. But dwarf coconut trees bear fruit early and have a high yield: dwarf coconut trees only take 3 to 4 years to bloom and bear fruit, with an annual yield of about 80 fruits per tree, while tall coconut trees take 6 to 8 years to bloom and bear fruit, with an annual yield of about 40 to 60 fruits per tree. Hybrid coconuts absorb the advantages of tall and dwarf coconuts, and are characterized by low height, long life and high yield.

Thai Coconut

Taste: Coconut water from Thailand is generally sweet

Most of the coconuts in Thailand are scented coconuts

Thai scented coconut is the most widely planted dwarf coconut variety in Thailand. The pure scented coconut is also a variety that Thailand protects and prohibits the export of seedlings. Currently, the coconut fruit is exported in large quantities all over the world. Its advantage is that it bears fruit quickly, and can bear fruit in as fast as two and a half years. It is extremely high-yielding, and the selling price is 2-4 times that of ordinary coconuts, with high economic value.

The most significant feature is that coconut water and coconut meat all have the aroma of milk (taro), which is fresh, sweet and refreshing, and is unforgettable. In Thailand, fresh fruits have completely replaced the local high-grade coconuts.
