What are the characteristics of liver cancer CT diagnosis? Revealing the manifestations of liver cancer on 4 CT films

Liver cancer refers to malignant tumors that occur in the liver, including primary liver cancer and metastatic liver cancer. When people talk about liver cancer, they are mostly referring to primary liver cancer. Primary liver cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in clinical practice. According to the latest statistics, there are about 600,000 new liver cancer patients in the world each year, ranking fifth among malignant tumors. Primary liver cancer can be divided into hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma and mixed liver cancer according to cell type.

CT features of liver cancer

CT scans may show massive, nodular, and diffuse types. In plain scans, cancer foci are mostly low-density or mixed-density, and this typical change can be seen in massive types. Nodular types show nodules of varying sizes, with a diameter of less than 5 cm and clear boundaries. Diffuse liver cancer is rare and difficult to diagnose with plain scans. When liver cancer ruptures and bleeds, plain CT scans may show high-density masses in the liver, often accompanied by irregular liver margins, or blood accumulation under the capsule, or changes after a large amount of ascites. Enhanced scans may show that the lesions have the characteristics of rapid enhancement and rapid regression.

Liver cancer CT scan manifestations:

① The edge of the mass shows high-density ring enhancement, which is more common in the nodular type.

② Incomplete enhancement rings and interval enhancements are mixed with non-enhanced low-density areas, which are common in massive types.

③ Small dot-like or nodular enhancement can be seen in the lesion, which is seen in the diffuse type.

④ In very rare cases, there may be no enhancement symptoms.
