Treatment for persistent low-grade fever

Treatment for persistent low-grade fever

Fever is just a symptom. Many diseases can cause fever symptoms, so you should not take medicine randomly when you have a persistent low fever, otherwise it will cause further damage to your body. Medically speaking, a low-grade fever refers to a body temperature between 37.3°C and 38°C. Long-term low-grade fever refers to a fever that lasts for more than two weeks, excluding intermittent fever. Low immunity, inflammation, various chronic diseases and mental stress can all cause low-grade fever.

Low-grade fever can be divided into organic low-grade fever and functional low-grade fever. Diseases such as hyperthyroidism, hepatitis, tumors, and tuberculosis can cause organic low-grade fever. Functional low-grade fever is not caused by any disease. For example, mental stress, hot weather, high-temperature working environment, and female menstruation may all cause functional low-grade fever. Functional low-grade fever does not require medication. As long as the factors that cause the fever change, the body temperature will naturally recover.

Therefore, if you have a persistent low-grade fever, you must not take it lightly and must go to the hospital to find out the cause. If it is an organic low-grade fever, you must find out the cause as soon as possible and treat it symptomatically. Otherwise, if the disease is delayed, it will be very difficult to treat. If it is a functional low-grade fever, it is recommended that friends do not rush to take medicine, because taking antipyretics indiscriminately in this situation will not only be of no benefit, but will also lead to a decrease in white blood cells.

Severe cases may even lead to aplastic anemia. For functional low-grade fever, the first thing to do is to drink more water, and then take targeted measures based on the specific cause of your functional low-grade fever. Change the bad working environment, relax and adjust your mentality, pay attention to ensuring adequate sleep time, and do moderate exercise if your physical condition allows, preferably outdoors so that you can breathe fresh air.

Because of fever, most people will have a loss of appetite and inadvertently reduce their food intake, which results in even less nutritional intake. Therefore, the more fever you have, especially when it is a persistent low-grade fever, you should pay more attention to nutritional intake. The diet structure should be more reasonable, eat more vegetables and fruits, try to eat less spicy and greasy food, and try not to eat too greasy and cold food.
