Why do my legs twitch when I sleep

Why do my legs twitch when I sleep

The purpose of sleeping is to allow the body to completely relax, and it is also a time for various organs to repair themselves. Adults should sleep no less than six to seven hours a day. If they do not get enough sleep for a long time, they will develop diseases. However, why do some people's legs twitch when they sleep? If your legs twitch involuntarily, you should be alert to the problem of varicose veins and also be aware of other diseases.

There are pathological and physiological factors for limb shaking during sleep:

Pathological factors

Nocturnal seizures caused by calcium deficiency;

Reflexes caused by neurasthenia;

Intestinal parasites cause toxic reactions;

Convulsions are caused by limb hypoxia caused by circulatory system diseases.

【Physiological factors】

Autonomic reflexes during sleep;

Limb reflexes triggered by deep sleep dreams.

[Usually]

1. Sleep twitches are a type of rapid, involuntary muscle twitching that is not under the control of the will. It is a physiological reaction, the same as eyelid twitching and hiccups. It is often related to fatigue and mental stress before going to bed, which causes the nerves in the brain to be tense and can cause muscle twitching.

2. If you exercise before going to bed or your muscles become tense for some other reason, your muscles will begin to relax after you fall asleep, which can also cause convulsions. It has no direct relationship with whether your body is healthy.

3. What you think about during the day you will dream about at night. When you are asleep, your brain is still active. If you dream at this time, or think about something unhappy, you will naturally feel aversion and want to escape from the bad situation. This will manifest in your limbs, that is, your body will suddenly shake.

4. 80% of sudden body shaking occurs when a person is about to enter deep sleep but has not yet fallen asleep. At this time, people's subconscious and subjective thoughts are reminding themselves that it is time to go to sleep, but the brain has not yet entered a deep sleep state. Under the interference of two tangled emotions, an inhibitory test will occur, controlling the body to shake suddenly.
