Why do people get pituitary tumors? What are the predisposing factors of pituitary tumors?

When a person's brain has some diseases, it will cause many harms to physical health and often cause various systemic discomforts. However, it is always found in clinical practice that many people will have pituitary tumors. If they are not controlled in a timely and effective manner, they will often endanger the patient's life and health. So why do people get brain tumors?

1. Predisposing factors of pituitary tumors

1. External influence

The occurrence of pituitary tumors is likely related to the influence of external forces on the brain, especially in severe trauma. Since the movement speeds of the head and brain are difficult to keep consistent, the head and brain will be instantly squeezed and pulled during the movement, causing bleeding in the tumor blood vessels.

2. Reasons for radiotherapy

When the body has certain serious diseases, such as pituitary adenoma, the chance of bleeding during radiation therapy will greatly increase, which may induce pituitary tumors.

3. Estrogen stimulation

Studies have found that when estrogen becomes abnormal, it can also cause pituitary congestion, and in severe cases, it can cause pituitary apoplexy. Therefore, changes in estrogen in the body may also cause the appearance of pituitary tumors.

2. Symptoms of Pituitary Tumors

1. Damage to the structures surrounding the tumor

This is a common cause of pituitary tumors in clinical practice. Usually, as the tumor grows, it will cause compression to the surrounding area, causing abnormalities in the cavernous tract of the cerebral artery and nerves, leading to functional disorders. In severe cases, patients will experience visual field defects, memory loss, headaches, hydrocephalus, etc.

2. Multiple organ damage

Patients with pituitary tumors have abnormal secretion of pituitary hormones. When hypersecretion occurs, it will cause multiple organ dysfunction in patients, resulting in heart disease, diabetes, cerebral ischemia, etc.

3. Vascular manifestations

Patients with pituitary tumors may have a large number of blood vessels inside, which may cause irregular blood sinuses. When the tumor continues to grow and puts pressure on the local area, it may cause blood vessels to rupture, causing intracranial hemorrhage in the patient.
