Will liver cancer cause shoulder pain? Generally not

Liver cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in my country. According to statistics from the 1990s, the annual mortality rate of liver cancer in my country was 20.37/100,000, ranking second in the order of death from malignant tumors, second only to lung cancer in cities and second only to gastric cancer in rural areas.

The clinical manifestations of primary liver cancer are extremely atypical, and the symptoms are usually not obvious, especially in the early stages of the disease. Usually, about 70% of small liver cancers below 5 cm are asymptomatic, and about 70% of asymptomatic subclinical liver cancers are also small liver cancers. Once symptoms appear, it means that the tumor has become larger, and the disease progresses very quickly, usually showing cachexia within a few weeks, and often dying from exhaustion within a few months to a year.

The symptoms of liver cancer are mainly manifested in the whole body and digestive system. About 60% to 80% of patients have symptoms such as weight loss, loss of appetite, pain in the liver area and local lumps. Fatigue, abdominal distension, fever, diarrhea, etc. are also common, about 30% to 50% of patients have such phenomena; while jaundice and ascites are less than those reported abroad, only about 20% of patients have such symptoms. In addition, there may be nausea, vomiting, edema, skin or mucosal bleeding, vomiting blood and blood in the stool.

It can be seen from this that liver cancer generally does not cause shoulder and arm pain, but in the later stages, tumor metastasis or radiation pain may cause shoulder and arm pain.

Actively preventing and treating viral hepatitis is of great significance to reducing the incidence of liver cancer. Injection of inactivated hepatitis B vaccine is not only effective in preventing and treating hepatitis, but also plays a certain role in preventing liver cancer. Avoid unnecessary blood transfusions and the use of blood products. Preventing food from going moldy, improving the quality of drinking water, and quitting the habit of drinking are also important measures to prevent liver cancer.
