Nausea and vomiting after scraping

Nausea and vomiting after scraping

Gua Sha is a common health-preserving method in life. It can improve fatigue, dredge meridians, promote blood circulation, dispel cold and detoxify, etc. It has many benefits to the body. However, some people experience adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting after scraping. This may be related to incorrect scraping techniques and one's own physical condition. To better protect your health, you must find the specific reasons.

Understanding the normal and abnormal reactions after scraping

Normal reaction

Sha phenomenon: After scraping, the skin may have sha phenomena of different colors and depths. Some people will have a small amount of red sha spots and sha spots, while some people will have dense sha phenomena of purple, bluish purple, or blue-black. Sometimes, lumps of sha phenomena of varying sizes can be felt under the skin. Dark sha spots may appear in these parts the next day. These are all "sha" phenomena after scraping, representing different health conditions of the body.

Pain: Pain during scraping indicates that the blood circulation in the meridians is not smooth. If there are more sha spots or uneven nodules after scraping, you may feel pain of varying degrees when touching the area within one or two days. In addition, different types of soreness and pain during scraping represent different causes of disease. People with insufficient qi and blood will experience soreness and pain, people with qi stagnation will experience swelling and pain, and people with blood stasis will experience tingling.

Abnormal reactions

If you feel tired or dizzy after scraping, it is an abnormal reaction.

Fatigue: Some people with weaker constitutions may feel tired within 24 hours if scraping is done for too long or with too much force. At this time, they will return to normal after sufficient rest and no special treatment is needed.

Local swelling and pain: If the scraping area becomes swollen or has a burning sensation, and it does not subside after 24 hours, or if the scraping area is still noticeably painful when touched after one or two days of scraping, it means that the scraping time is too long or excessive. In this case, you can apply hot compress 24 hours after scraping.

Dizziness after scraping: Like acupuncture, scraping stimulates acupuncture points, so it is possible to experience dizziness after scraping, just like dizziness after acupuncture. The symptoms of dizziness due to scraping include dizziness, nausea, pale face, cold sweats, cold limbs, etc. The main reasons for dizziness due to scraping are that the person being scraped is too tired, too many areas are scraped, the scraping technique is too heavy, or the person has been fasting for too long.

To avoid dizziness during scraping, first of all, avoid scraping when you are fasting for too long, staying up late, or are overly tired; choose a suitable posture and appropriate technique when scraping, and the single scraping time should not be too long; remember to ask "Will you feel uncomfortable?" during the scraping process. When the person being scraped obviously feels uncomfortable or shows symptoms of dizziness, stop scraping, and let the person who feels dizzy lie down, keep warm, and drink a glass of warm water. If the dizziness reaction is more serious, you can use the corner of the scraping board to gently press the Ren Zhong point, and scrape the Baihui point and Yongquan point in a draining manner (with stronger force and faster speed). After the condition improves, continue to scrape the Neiguan point and Zusanli point.
