How to improve the survival rate after breast cancer surgery? Teach you 5 major recovery skills

After the fear and despair when breast cancer is diagnosed and the surgery is completed, many people think that they have finally been relieved. In fact, the battle between you and breast cancer has just begun. Professional care plays a vital role in helping patients overcome the disease.

1. Help patients adjust their mental state

The success of breast cancer treatment is inseparable from the cooperation between doctors, patients and their families. In addition to taking good care of patients in daily life, family members of patients should also cooperate with doctors to provide psychological counseling for patients. Patients should be encouraged to persist in completing treatment, understand and accept possible complications of treatment, so that patients can better cooperate with treatment. When patients are depressed, in pain, rude, or irritable, family members should actively comfort and encourage them mentally and spiritually. It is our common responsibility to alleviate patients' pain and achieve the best treatment effect.

2. Strengthen nutritional support after surgery

After breast cancer surgery, timely intake of rich nutrition can promote wound healing and help patients recover as soon as possible, so it is important to eat actively. During radiotherapy and chemotherapy and for a period of time afterwards, breast cancer patients may have a certain decline in taste and appetite. At this time, the patient's diet should ensure nutrition while focusing on color, aroma and taste, and the principle is to eat light and easily digestible food.

It should be noted that breast cancer patients should have a moderate diet after surgery, eat regularly, quantitatively, and plan to take in nutrients and calories, and avoid overeating or blindly taking supplements. Do not eat foods containing hormones, such as royal jelly and placenta, or health products with unknown ingredients. Eat a normal diet, eat more whole grains, whole grains, and vegetables and fruits appropriately.

3. Postoperative functional training should be performed as early as possible

After breast cancer surgery, patients will experience some physical changes. This requires patients to have sufficient understanding and preparation, cooperate with medical staff, and carry out limb function exercises in a planned and step-by-step manner to promote blood and lymph return to the limbs, reduce limb swelling, and restore normal function as soon as possible.

Postoperative functional rehabilitation exercises can be performed in three stages: early postoperative rehabilitation exercises, mid-term postoperative rehabilitation exercises, and late postoperative rehabilitation exercises for breast cancer. Exercises must be performed step by step and not too hastily.

4. Regular review and lifelong follow-up

Breast cancer patients need regular checkups and lifelong follow-up to detect recurrence or metastasis of cancer as early as possible, so that appropriate treatment measures can be taken as early as possible. In addition, it can also provide a large amount of information and data for breast cancer research, which is conducive to the development of breast cancer prevention and treatment.

Specific review time and items include:

Clinical physical examination: For the first two years, see a specialist every 4-6 months; for the next three years, every 6 months; after five years, every year. Breast ultrasound: every 6 months, mammography: once a year, chest X-ray: once a year.

Abdominal ultrasound: once every 6 months, and once a year after 3 years. Patients with high-risk factors such as more than 4 axillary lymph node metastases should undergo a baseline bone scan and a full-body bone scan once a year, which can be changed to once every 2 years after 5 years.

Blood routine, blood biochemistry, and breast cancer marker testing: once every 6 months, and once a year after three years.

Pelvic examination: Patients taking tamoxifen should undergo a pelvic examination once a year.

5. Actively prevent lymphedema

For breast cancer patients, lymphedema may not be more terrible than breast cancer. However, the torture and pain caused by severe postoperative lymphedema may be no less than breast cancer. Lymphedema can cause swelling and deformation of the affected limb after surgery, leading to upper limb dysfunction and affecting the patient's ability to take care of himself.

At the same time, patients are prone to low self-esteem and mental stress, which causes great physical and mental pain and seriously affects the quality of life after surgery. Most lymphedema occurs after patients are discharged from the hospital, and medical staff are unable to accurately assess the lymphedema and deal with it in a timely manner. When patients seek medical treatment due to obvious swelling of the affected limb, the edema is already quite serious and treatment is usually difficult.

Therefore, patients after breast cancer surgery must learn scientific methods to prevent lymphedema and actively prevent lymphedema.
