What is the cause of small cell lung cancer

Smokers are at high risk of small cell lung cancer, a cancer that occurs in the bronchi. There are many causes of the disease, and small cell lung cancer seriously endangers people's health and brings many inconveniences to people's lives. What are the causes of this disease? Let us now understand the causes of small cell lung cancer.

1. Smoking:

We all know that smoking is a factor that causes lung cancer, but there are still many people who smoke. The longer you smoke, the greater your chance of developing lung cancer. The incidence of lung cancer in smokers is 10 times higher than that of non-smokers, and the incidence of lung cancer in heavy smokers is even higher, 20 times higher than that of non-smokers.

2. Air pollution:

Air pollution is getting worse and worse, leading to more and more people suffering from lung cancer due to environmental pollution. We must pay attention to environmental protection. The incidence of lung cancer is high in industrially developed countries, higher in cities than in rural areas, and higher in factory and mining areas than in residential areas. The main reason is that in industrially and traffic-developed areas, the combustion of oil, coal, and internal combustion engines, as well as asphalt road dust, produces harmful substances such as benzopyrene carcinogenic hydrocarbons that pollute the atmosphere. Therefore, this is also one of the causes of lung cancer.

3. Chronic lung diseases:

For example, tuberculosis, silicosis, and pneumoconiosis can coexist with lung cancer. The incidence of these lung cancers is higher than that of normal people. In addition, chronic inflammation of the lung bronchus and lung fibrosis scar lesions may cause squamous metaplasia or hyperplasia during the healing process. On this basis, some lung cancer patients may develop into cancer.

4. Occupational factors:

The chief is people in special occupations. These people are exposed to harmful chemicals for a long time, which is very likely to cause lung cancer. After years of investigation and research, it is now recognized that long-term exposure to radioactive substances such as uranium and radium and their derivatives, carcinogenic hydrocarbons, arsenic, chromium, nickel, copper, tin, iron, coal tar, asphalt, petroleum, asbestos, mustard gas and other substances can induce lung cancer, mainly squamous cell carcinoma and undifferentiated small cell carcinoma.

All of the above are important factors that lead to lung cancer. I hope everyone will recover soon and have a happy family.
