What does the right cerebellum control

The human cerebellum and cerebellum are both very critical parts. If they are affected by them at ordinary times, paralysis will occur, and it may even cause local tension and cause a lot of unnecessary trouble. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to understand how to treat their own cerebellum and cerebellum problems to avoid burdening the body. First of all, what does the right cerebellum control? This is something that many people are concerned about.

Regulation of body balance and muscle tone (tonus), and coordination of voluntary movements.

Cerebellar function

The cerebellum, through its rich afferent and efferent connections with the cerebrum, brainstem, and spinal cord, is involved in the regulation of body balance and muscle tone (tonus), as well as the coordination of voluntary movements. The cerebellum is like a big regulator. When people are drunk, they walk unsteadily because alcohol paralyzes the cerebellum. There is an experiment: if a dog's cerebellum is removed, the dog will lose coordination when walking.

Regulate body balance

The cerebellum's regulation of body balance is carried out by the flocculonodular lobe, that is, the cerebellum. The body's balance regulation is a reflex process, and the flocculonodular lobe is the central device of this reflex activity. Information about changes in body balance is sensed by the vestibular organs and transmitted to the flocculonodular lobe of the cerebellum via the vestibular nerves and vestibular nuclei. The cerebellum then sends out impulses to regulate body balance. The impulses reach the anterior horn motor neurons of the spinal cord via the vestibulospinal tract and then reach the muscles via the spinal nerves, coordinating the movement and tension of the antagonistic muscle groups, thereby keeping the body balanced.

For example, when a person stands with his head tilted back, the knee and ankle joints will automatically flex to counteract the shift in the body's center of gravity caused by the head tilting back, allowing the body to maintain balance and not fall.

During this process, the auxiliary flexion movement of the knee and ankle joints to cooperate with the backward tilt of the head is the result of the regulatory impulses sent by the cerebellum, which coordinate the movement and tension of the relevant muscles.

If the flocculonodular lobe is damaged, the body's balance function will be destroyed. Monkeys whose flocculonodular lobe has been removed cannot stand and always sit in the corner of the cage, using the sides of the cage to support their bodies to maintain balance.

In humans, if the flocculonodular lobe is damaged or compressed, the patient's body balance will be seriously disturbed, the body will tilt, and the gait will stagger when walking. Studies have also shown that the vermis cortex also receives input of proprioception and visual impulses related to body balance, and there are many fiber exchanges between the fastigial nucleus and the vestibular nucleus.

Therefore, the longitudinal medial area composed of the vermis cortex and the fastigial nucleus is also involved in the regulation of body balance, mainly standing. Injuries to the medial area will also cause difficulty with balance and standing.
