What are the sequelae after pituitary tumor surgery

With the aging of society, young people are under increasing pressure, often working overtime and staying up late. Some people are more likely to suffer from pituitary tumors because of their weak immunity. They will also have various discomforts after surgery. They don’t know that this is a sequelae of the surgery. So what are the sequelae after pituitary tumor surgery?

1. Within a few months after the operation, patients usually experience nasal congestion, and a small amount of secretions or cool liquid will continue to flow out of the patient's nasal cavity. Patients can drip nasal drops and anti-inflammatory liquid into the nasal cavity to relieve this phenomenon. One week after the operation, the ENT department should go to clean the secretions in the nasal cavity about once or twice.

2. Generally, hyponatremia will occur around 4 to 8 days after the operation. Common symptoms include low fever, lack of strength, headache, nausea, and vomiting. At this time, you should go to the hospital for examination and diagnosis. After the doctor confirms the condition, you should be given an infusion of hypertonic saline and pay attention to limiting your water intake.

3. Because of the edema of the nasal mucosa, inflammation of the sphenoid sinus and other factors, patients with severe conditions can choose to take painkillers to relieve pain. Hypopituitarism is manifested by fever, general weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. After the diagnosis is clear, some prednisone and thyroxine can be used for treatment under the doctor's advice. There will also be symptoms such as nasal bleeding. After a few days, if it is mild, cotton balls can be temporarily filled in the nasal cavity, which will be effective. In severe cases, there is a lot of bleeding, so go to the hospital for examination and treatment.

4. Patients with pituitary tumors may experience nasal bleeding if the gauze strips used to pack the nasal cavity are pulled out after surgery. At this time, cotton balls can be placed in the patient's nasal cavity to stop the bleeding. Patients with severe bleeding must also undergo angiography. This phenomenon is a relatively mild symptom among the sequelae of pituitary tumors.

These are some introductions to the sequelae after pituitary tumor surgery. I hope everyone will have a positive attitude to treat pituitary tumors and recover soon.
