What is the best way to treat bile duct cancer

What is the best way to treat bile duct cancer? When we suffer from bile duct cancer, we always hope to find a special treatment method that can effectively relieve pain and reduce treatment time, while also reducing the financial pressure of treatment. There are many ways to treat bile duct cancer, so what is the best way to treat bile duct cancer?

How to treat bile duct cancer? Surgical resection is the first choice for the treatment of bile duct cancer, and the surgical methods vary according to the location of the tumor. For example, left hepatic duct and common hepatic duct cancer can be treated with quadratic lobe or left hemihepatectomy and resection of the hilar bile duct and extrahepatic bile duct; right hepatic duct and common hepatic duct cancer can be treated with quadratic lobe or left hemihepatectomy and resection of the hilar bile duct and extrahepatic bile duct. But in general, the treatment of bile duct cancer located in the hilar part is more difficult, with the worst prognosis, and the resection rate is much lower than that of middle bile duct cancer and lower bile duct cancer, only about 10% to 30%. Cancer located in the middle and lower end of the common bile duct often has a higher surgical resection rate because jaundice appears early, the tumor develops slowly, and lymphatic metastasis is also late. If the patient's general condition permits, and there is no ascites and distant metastasis, surgical treatment should be actively performed. If surgical resection is possible, pancreaticoduodenectomy or cholecystojejunostomy is performed to relieve jaundice.

Cholangiocarcinoma is not sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, therefore, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are not highly regarded in the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma. However, for hilar cholangiocarcinoma, more than 50% of patients are found to be unable to undergo surgical resection during exploration, and even for those who undergo surgical resection, a considerable number of them have local recurrence and distant metastasis. For patients who cannot undergo surgical resection or have recurrence and metastasis, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be used as one of their treatment methods. With the update of radiotherapy equipment, improvement of technical methods and improvement of chemotherapy drugs and methods, radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be used as an auxiliary treatment method for surgery, which is helpful to prolong survival.

Surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the three conventional methods of cancer treatment. With the development of medical technology, targeted therapy as an advanced cancer treatment has been widely used in clinical practice, bringing hope to patients.

An important method for diagnosing cholangiocarcinoma, it can display the condition of the intrahepatic bile duct and the site of obstruction, thereby clarifying the location of the tumor and the extent of invasion. It can also be used to insert a catheter into the obstruction site to obtain living tumor tissue for pathological examination in order to obtain a clear diagnosis.
