Will teratoma cause dystocia

Will teratoma cause dystocia

If ovarian teratoma is discovered at first, it is not a very serious disease, but just a common gynecological disease, nor is it the incurable disease that women fear. So will ovarian teratoma cause difficult labor in women? I hope the following answer can solve the troubles of female friends.

Can ovarian teratoma cause dystocia in women?

Ovarian teratoma will not have much impact on fertility, but it should be treated immediately after early detection because it is harmful to the human body. First of all, it has nothing to do with pregnancy and can occur at any age. Newborns, teenagers, middle-aged or elderly people can suffer from this disease, but 80% to 90% are women of childbearing age between 20 and 40 years old, accounting for about 1/4 to 1/3 of ovarian tumor patients.

If it is a mature teratoma, it is a benign tumor that grows slowly and will not affect the fetus. The tumor can be removed surgically at an appropriate time after delivery. If it is tightly adhered to the left ovary, the left ovary needs to be removed. It generally does not recur after surgery. If it is a malignant teratoma, it needs to be closely observed. It is recommended to remove the tumor first and then get pregnant later.

If the patient needs surgery and the tumor is less than 3 centimeters, we have to find it during surgery because it is too small, which is troublesome and will cause great damage to the ovary. Sometimes it cannot even be found. At this time, it is recommended to continue observation, but regular follow-up is required. If it grows, we will do it. If it does not grow, we will observe. If it is more than 5 centimeters, surgery is required. Teratoma itself is not very homogeneous and has uneven density, so it is easy to twist. We recommend surgery for more than 5 centimeters.

Currently, the most advanced technology for treating ovarian teratoma is laparoscopy. This surgery involves making three small incisions of 0.5 cm in the abdominal wall, inserting a cannula into the abdominal cavity, establishing a channel between the abdominal cavity and the outside world, and inserting special laparoscopic instruments deep into the abdominal cavity. The camera device can clearly display the image inside the abdominal cavity on the monitoring screen, and the surgeon can complete various surgical operations by looking directly at the screen.
