What is epididymitis

Epididymitis is a common disease in men. Most men suffer from epididymitis due to bad living habits. Epididymitis can occur at any age and is not limited to adult men. Children may also suffer from epididymitis. Therefore, parents need to observe carefully. Generally speaking, epididymitis is divided into acute and chronic, but no matter which type it is, it needs to be taken seriously and treated actively.

So what is epididymitis?

Epididymitis refers to when the body's resistance is low, certain pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus will retrograde into the epididymis from the vas deferens, causing inflammation. When this type of inflammation becomes severe, it may develop into common urological diseases such as urethritis and prostatitis, so it should not be ignored.

Epididymitis is clinically divided into acute and chronic types. The symptoms of epididymitis vary depending on the cause.

1. Symptoms of acute epididymitis

The symptoms of acute epididymitis are not very obvious and can be easily ignored. Generally speaking, patients with acute epididymitis will suddenly develop a high fever, and blood tests will show an increase in the white blood cell count; the affected side of the scrotum will be swollen and painful, the epididymis will be enlarged, there will be a feeling of heaviness, and there will be obvious tenderness; there will be referred pain in the lower abdomen and groin. When the inflammation spreads to a large area, both the epididymis and testicles become swollen, and the boundary between the two is unclear, which is called epididymis-testicular inflammation. The spermatic cord on the affected side is thickened and tender. Generally speaking, acute symptoms will gradually subside after a week.

2. Symptoms of chronic epididymitis

(1) Scrotal pain. Scrotal pain is a typical manifestation of chronic epididymitis, which is often manifested as long-term or intermittent pain in the scrotum on the affected side. The pain is mostly dull and there is a feeling of distension and heaviness.

(2) Pain in the lower abdomen. The pain caused by chronic epididymitis can radiate to the lower abdomen and groin on the same side. Patients may have pain in the groin or lower abdomen.

(3) Thickening of the vas deferens. It usually manifests as thickening of the ipsilateral vas deferens.

(4) Hydrocele. Not all patients have this symptom, which is often secondary.

(5) The epididymis becomes larger and harder.

(6) Epididymis tenderness.

15 grams of verbena, 6 grams of green peel, 10 grams of wolfberry, 10 grams of toosendan fruit, 12 grams of Corydalis yanhusuo, 10 grams of tangerine peel, 10 grams of red peony root, 10 grams of Chuanxiong, 10 grams of Alisma orientalis, 3 grams of raw licorice, 15 grams of Plantago seed (package), and 3 grams of Bupleurum. Decoction in water and take in 2 doses. Take 1 dose daily. One course of treatment is 15 doses.
