How to find Yaoyangguan

Our body is made up of various organs, such as the heart, spine, lumbar disc, joints, coccyx, lumbar yangguan, etc. However, we are not very familiar with Yaoyangguan, and some friends are not clear about where exactly Yaoyangguan is located. As the name suggests, Yaoyangguan is definitely on the waist, in the middle part of the lumbar spine, and plays the role of supporting the waist. 1. Formerly known as Yangguan. It is also called Yaoyangguan. Also known as Jiyangguan and Beiyangguan. Belongs to the Du meridian. On the lower back, on the posterior midline of the body, in the depression below the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra. It is distributed with the medial branch of the posterior branch of the lumbar nerve and the posterior branch of the lumbar artery.

2. Yaoyangguan point is located in the depression below the spinous process of the 4th lumbar vertebra. It is mainly used to treat lumbar and sacral pain, lower limb paralysis, gynecological diseases such as irregular menstruation and leucorrhea, and male diseases such as spermatorrhea and impotence.

[Anatomy] There are lumbar dorsal fascia, supraspinal ligament and interspinous ligament; there are dorsal branches of the fourth lumbar artery and vein, and the medial branch of the posterior branch of the fourth lumbar nerve is distributed in the interspinous venous plexus.

[Indications] ① Lumbar pain, lower limb paralysis; ② Gynecological diseases such as irregular menstruation and leucorrhea; ③ Male diseases such as spermatorrhea and impotence.

[Operation] Insert the needle vertically 0.5 to 1 cun.

[Clinical Application] It is commonly used in modern times to treat lumbar and sacral diseases, sciatica, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. Combined with Shenshu, Ci Liao and Weizhong, it is mainly used to treat pain in the waist and legs.

3. The easiest way to locate the Baihui point is to draw the two ear tips upwards in the center of the top of the head. Speaking of the Dazhui, when we lower our head, we feel a high bone. Then, when we move our head further, the bone that moves with it is called the seventh cervical vertebra. Zhiyang is the intersection of the line connecting the lower angles of the two shoulder blades and the posterior midline.

4. Lie prone. The Yaoyangguan point is located on the waist, on the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra.

The name Yaoyangguan means that the stagnant water and dampness in the ascending qi and blood of the Du meridian sinks downwards here. The substance of this point is the moisture and air transmitted from Yaoshu point. In the process of ascending to this point, it dissipates heat and absorbs moisture. After reaching this point, the stagnant moisture and air cannot continue to ascend. This point is like a checkpoint for the ascending moisture and air of the Du meridian, hence the name Yaoyangguan. The names and meanings of Yangguan acupoint and Jiyangguan acupoint are the same as Yaoyangguan acupoint.
