Will the fetus be affected by bladder cancer?

Will the fetus be affected by bladder cancer? Experts say that if the cancer cells in the bladder cancer patient's body have not metastasized and are only concentrated in a local area of the bladder, then the bladder cancer patient still has relevant fertility function.

As the pregnancy period lengthens, the uterus will become heavily congested, and the mother's nutrition will not only nourish the baby, but also provide nutrition to the cancer cells, causing the cancerous site to grow rapidly. In addition, pregnancy will aggravate the symptoms of bladder cancer, causing patients to miss early treatment or causing treatment to be blocked. This is because changes in human hormone secretion during pregnancy can stimulate and promote cancer. Childbirth and breastfeeding may also cause bladder cancer cells to spread and metastasize, further threatening the patient's life.

The researchers said the observed results should be validated in these solid tumors and should be explored in other types of malignancies. If the observations can be replicated sufficiently independently, then in addition to high-penetrance cancer susceptibility genes, the presence of germline heterozygosity at certain specific loci in the form of low-penetrance alleles should be considered in future cancer risk assessment and management.

In addition, if the relative frequencies of germline homozygosity/heterozygosity at those same loci are known, further study and refined structural analyses may allow researchers to use these data to predict the likelihood of loss of heterozygosity at a particular locus in a tumor.
