What are the symptoms of lung cancer metastasis

What are the symptoms of lung cancer metastasis? In the late stage of lung cancer, metastasis to various organs may occur, which may cause corresponding symptoms, often causing great pain to the patient and even threatening life. Lung cancer is the most common malignant tumor in the respiratory system. The incidence of brain metastasis of lung cancer is as high as 35% to 50%. It is often misdiagnosed as cerebrovascular disease, primary brain tumor, tuberculous meningitis or intracranial hypertension due to headache, vomiting, facial nerve paralysis, hemiplegia, blurred vision, aphasia, muscle weakness, etc. as the first symptoms. So, what are the symptoms of lung cancer metastasis?

(1) Bone metastasis:

About 50% of lung cancer patients will eventually develop bone metastases in multiple locations. There are generally no symptoms in the early stages of bone metastasis, and bone isotope scanning can reveal diseased bones. Symptoms of bone metastasis are related to the location and number of tumor metastases. For example, chest pain caused by rib metastasis of lung cancer is often manifested as pain limited to the chest wall with clear tenderness points.

(2) Liver metastasis:

The liver is also a common site of lung cancer metastasis. About 28% to 33% of lung cancers have liver metastasis. Liver metastasis is the invasion of the liver through the blood circulation after the primary lung cancer cancer cells fall off and grow in the liver. Liver metastasis can be single or multiple nodular metastatic foci. The most common symptom is pain in the liver area, which is a persistent pain, and may be accompanied by loss of appetite, indigestion and other manifestations of liver damage.

(3) Brain metastasis:

Lung cancer patients may experience unexplained headaches, vomiting, visual impairment, and personality and temper changes due to intracranial hypertension or cranial nerve damage caused by lung cancer metastasis to the brain. This is common in small cell lung cancer and adenocarcinoma.

(4) Metastasis to other parts:

In addition to the common metastatic sites mentioned above, lung cancer also has less common metastatic sites such as skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscle, abdominal cavity, heart, etc. Symptoms are often related to the metastatic site. For example, if it metastasizes to the heart, symptoms such as chest tightness, palpitations, and even shortness of breath, syncope, and heart rhythm disorders may occur.
