What are the research advances in early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer has a very poor prognosis due to its hidden clinical manifestations and difficulty in early diagnosis. Diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in its early stages can significantly improve its prognosis, so how to effectively diagnose it early has become a hot topic of research at home and abroad in recent years. This article reviews the research progress in the monitoring of pancreatic cancer risk factors and high-risk populations, imaging examinations, serological examinations, proteomics, and gene markers. What are the research advances in the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer?

In recent years, the incidence of pancreatic cancer has been on a continuous upward trend, ranking fourth in the cause of cancer death worldwide and the second most common malignant tumor among all digestive system tumors. In China, pancreatic cancer has jumped to the seventh place among all tumors in the body. Statistics in Shanghai, my country show that the incidence of pancreatic cancer in Shanghai was 1.25/100,000 in 1963, rising to 4/100,000 in 1977 and surging to 9.4/100,000 in 1995. The pancreas is hidden in the location, and the clinical symptoms are mostly atypical. Once discovered, it is usually in the late stage. Early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is difficult and the prognosis is poor. It is a highly malignant tumor. Most pancreatic cancer patients are already in the advanced stage when they are discovered, and their 5-year survival rate is less than 10% (this data has not fluctuated significantly in the past 20 years), and more than 95% of patients die within 5 years after pathological diagnosis. In fact, if pancreatic cancer patients receive surgical treatment in the early stage, they will achieve a good survival rate. There is data to prove that if the tumor is less than 1 cm or smaller and is diagnosed, the resection rate can reach 90%. Early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is to find early pancreatic cancer and treat it early to improve the prognosis. Therefore, early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is the key to improving the survival rate of patients.
