Complications of radiotherapy for pancreatic cancer

Complications of radiotherapy for pancreatic cancer

What are the complications of radiotherapy for pancreatic cancer? We know that radiotherapy and chemotherapy cannot distinguish between each other. They often kill a large number of normal cells while killing cancer cells, but they cannot kill all the cancer cells in the patient's body! After multiple rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the patient's hair falls out, the body becomes emaciated, the gastrointestinal function becomes disordered, nausea, vomiting, and low-grade fever persists, which, like cancer cells, destroys the body's immune function and organ function.

Many patients suffer from severe damage to their internal organs and immunity after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which cannot be repaired or restored. Many cancer patients experience multiple metastases during radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Common complications include:

Weight loss

Patients with advanced pancreatic cancer will gradually lose weight as the disease progresses, and the symptoms are very obvious. Generally, patients will lose weight very soon after the onset of the disease. In severe cases, they can lose more than 30 kilograms, and at the same time, they will also suffer from physical weakness and general fatigue.

Symptomatic diabetes

Many patients will experience symptoms of diabetes in the earliest stages of the disease. After the onset of diabetes, persistent abdominal pain will occur. Some elderly people will also suddenly develop diabetes. In some cases, the symptoms of the disease suddenly worsen when they are already suffering from diabetes. When the above symptoms occur, patients should consider whether they have symptoms of pancreatic cancer to prevent the disease from spreading.

Thrombophlebitis

Among patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, some patients may experience migratory thrombophlebitis, and some patients may also experience arterial thrombosis.
