Can an EEG be used to diagnose brain cancer?

Brain cancer is a common malignant tumor in the human brain. As we all know, the brain plays a very important role in the human body. The impact of an unhealthy brain on life can be imagined. Experts remind brain cancer patients to go to the hospital for regular physical examinations in their daily lives. Early detection, early examination, and early treatment can help them get rid of the troubles of the disease as soon as possible. So can EEG be used to diagnose brain cancer?

Brain cancer tests can provide a reliable basis for formulating treatment plans. Generally speaking, the progression of brain cancer can be determined through the following tests:

1. Magnetic resonance imaging: It can show most intracranial tumors and peritumoral edema, and can accurately show the location, size and shape of the tumor.

2. Biochemical analysis: For patients with pituitary tumors, especially those with excessive secretion of anterior pituitary hormones, it can be confirmed through blood biochemical tests.

3. Electroencephalogram examination: It can be seen that the amplitude of the affected side is reduced and the frequency is slowed down, but it is not very helpful for the diagnosis of midline, deep hemisphere and infratentorial brain tumors.

4. Brain CT scan: It examines the size, shape, number, location, density and nature of brain cancer lesions. It has clear anatomical relationships and a detection rate of over 90%. It is currently the main diagnostic method for brain cancer.

EEG cannot diagnose brain cancer. It is not specific and can only diagnose abnormal discharges and electrophysiology in the brain. Diagnosis of brain tumors still requires CT or MRI examinations.
