TCM treatment of breast cancer requires dietary restrictions

Breast cancer is one of the biggest health killers for women, and many women die from it. Traditional Chinese medicine is one of the methods to treat breast cancer. Many people are reminded by their doctors to avoid certain foods when taking traditional Chinese medicine, but most people don't know why they should avoid certain foods when taking traditional Chinese medicine. Why should we avoid certain foods when taking Chinese medicine?

1. When taking Chinese medicine, you should generally eat less beans, meat, raw and cold food and other indigestible foods to avoid increasing the gastrointestinal burden of the patient, thereby affecting the patient's recovery speed. Patients with spleen and stomach deficiency should eat less of these foods. For hot diseases, alcohol, spicy food, fish, meat and other foods should be prohibited or eaten less, because these foods have the effect of greasy stagnation, heat and phlegm, which will promote the pathogenic factors after eating and aggravate the condition. When taking antipyretic and rash-clearing drugs, you should eat less raw, cold and sour foods with astringent effects. When taking warming and tonic drugs, you should drink less tea, because some teas are cool and can reduce the effect of the drugs in warming and tonic the spleen and stomach. It is also not advisable to drink tea before and after taking sedatives, hypnotic drugs, and these drugs cannot be taken with tea.

2. When taking heat-clearing and blood-cooling and yin-nourishing drugs, spicy food should not be eaten. Spicy food is hot in nature, and patients with heat syndrome in TCM diagnosis (constipation, oliguria, dry mouth, dry lips, sore throat, dry and red tongue, and peeling tongue coating) will counteract the effects of heat-clearing and blood-cooling drugs (gypsum, honeysuckle, forsythia, gardenia, raw rehmannia, moutan bark, etc.) and yin-nourishing drugs (dendrobe, adenophora, ophiopogon, anemarrhena, and scrophularia, etc.).

3. Improper combination of drugs and food will reduce the efficacy of drugs and even produce toxic side effects. Therefore, patients with bitter mouth and dry throat, irritability, constipation, high blood pressure, neurasthenia, tachycardia, and hyperthyroidism should generally avoid polysaccharide, high fat, spicy and other foods. Patients with spleen and stomach deficiency, cold hands and feet, loose stools, low blood pressure, and bradycardia should avoid watermelon, winter melon, radish, mung bean, raw pear, sugar cane, honey, turtle and other raw, cold, greasy, and sticky foods. Those with chills and fever, headaches and irritability, constipation and yellow urine, oral ulcers, furuncles and tumors should avoid bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, loofah, leeks, eggplants and seafood.

4. When taking Chinese medicine to clear internal heat, it is not advisable to eat hot foods such as onions, garlic, pepper, mutton, dog meat, etc.; when taking Chinese medicine to treat "cold syndrome", raw and cold foods should be avoided. When taking these medicines, if you eat taboo foods, the therapeutic effect will not be ideal or even have the opposite effect.

5. Do not drink strong tea when taking Chinese medicine, because tea contains tannic acid. Strong tea contains more tannic acid. Taking it with Chinese medicine will affect the body's absorption of the effective ingredients of Chinese medicine and reduce its efficacy. Other beverages such as coffee, cola, and Sprite are not suitable. Drink boiled water as the main drink.
