What are the self-examination methods for skin cancer

Compared with other tumors, skin cancer metastasizes relatively slowly, so it has not been taken seriously by people, often delaying the best time to seek medical treatment. Because of its slow metastasis, if it can be discovered in the early stages, it can be 100% cured. If it is not discovered early, it will be life-threatening. Therefore, early detection of signs of skin malignancy has special significance. Here are the early characteristics of skin cancer and self-examination methods, so that everyone can go to the hospital for treatment in time.

The first type of skin cancer is malignant melanoma, which has four characteristics:

One is asymmetry. If the mole is asymmetrical in shape and the surface is not smooth, you should pay attention to it.

Second, the edges are rough and sometimes have cracks, which is the exact opposite of the smooth edges of normal moles.

Third, the colors are mostly mixed, especially brown or ink black, and sometimes red, white and blue.

Fourth, it is greater than 1/4 cm.

The second and third types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, which have four characteristics:

First, the parts exposed to the sun, such as the head, neck, back of the hands, chest, back, etc. If it is a sudden growth and does not disappear for a long time, you should pay attention to it. You should also be vigilant about acne that does not disappear for a long time.

The second is bleeding. These two types of skin cancer will bleed after just a slight stimulation, while most common skin diseases do not have this feature.

The third is the scab condition. If the skin scabs for no reason, especially if the scabs do not disappear for a long time, you should pay close attention.

Fourth, attention should be paid to skin surfaces that are scaly with secretions, or have nodules or ulcers that do not heal.

Experts also suggest that you should be careful if there are any unusual phenomena on the skin, such as certain spots glowing, shining like pearls, or visible capillaries.

Steps for self-examination of early skin cancer:

1. Face the mirror (same below), naked, start with your arms, check your palms, fingers, finger spaces, forearms, and back arms. Then raise your arms, bend your elbows, and carefully check the inside and joints of your forearms.

2. Check the front of the body: face, neck, chest, abdomen, pubic area and thighs.

3. Check the side of the body: raise your hands, check the left half first, then check the right half.

4. Stand with your back to the mirror and a small mirror in your hand to check the back of your neck, back, buttocks and arms. If it is inconvenient, you can ask one of your spouse or a friend to help check.

5. Ask someone to use a comb to lift your hair so that you can check if there are any suspicious areas on your head. If you are a man, you can also touch your hair slowly if it is short.

6. Sit down and check your feet, heels, toes and soles, then hold a mirror against the inside of your legs and move it around to see if there are any signs of disease on the back of your legs. If you find anything abnormal, see a doctor as soon as possible.

I hope the above types and characteristics of skin cancer and self-examination steps can help you so that you can detect, treat and recover early.
