Is gallbladder cancer transmitted by a virus?

Cancer is easy to metastasize and spread, so it is difficult to treat. Gallbladder cancer is a relatively common disease in the cancer family. Therefore, in recent years, gallbladder cancer has become one of the cancers that people are paying more and more attention to. Many people have questions: Is gallbladder cancer contagious? The editor will give you a brief introduction below.

In the past few hundred years, the question of whether cancer is contagious has been frequently raised and continuously observed and studied. Especially since the discovery in 1908 that viruses can cause tumors, this question has become more eye-catching. Generally speaking, viruses are contagious, but the infectivity of various viruses varies. After viral infection, only 1% of people develop clinical symptoms, while more people do not develop symptoms and are in a latent infection state. Whether or not a person develops symptoms after viral infection is closely related to the body's defense function. If the body's defense function is strong, even if there is a viral infection, the person may not develop the disease for life. It has been determined that more than 100 viruses can cause more than 30 types of tumors in animals. Some viruses can also cause human tumors. In this way, there is an objective material basis for the possibility of tumor contagion. Viruses or such virus particles have also been found in human Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, breast cancer, leukemia, cervical cancer, and melanoma.

Moreover, in animal experiments, some people injected spleen blood from chickens with sarcoma into healthy chickens, and the healthy chickens also developed sarcoma. Some people also let fleas that had sucked the blood of mice with breast cancer bite healthy mice, and indeed they successfully inoculated tumors into the healthy mice. However, this experiment has not been confirmed in humans so far. Moreover, even in animals, healthy animals living with cancerous animals have not been found to be directly infected with cancer.

Foreign medical scientists have conducted long-term observations on patients in cancer sanatoriums and found that cancer patients with ulcers and cancer patients without ulcers have never been infected with each other when they have been together for a long time. On the other hand, there are countless cancer patients treated by doctors, and the cancer incidence rate of doctors is not higher than that of ordinary people. At present, there are a lot of facts that are common, and there are no examples of direct infection when animals with cancer and healthy animals live in the same room. In hospitals, patients with different types of cancer have lived in the same room for a long time, and for many years, no mutual infection has been found.

Medical staff have long been in contact with cancer patients and have not found that their cancer incidence rate is higher than that of the general population. These facts show that general tumors are not contagious and that general contact with cancer patients will not infect them. Therefore, to this day, all hospitals do not adopt an isolation system for cancer patients.

In addition, since gallbladder cancer has no specific and typical symptoms in the early stage and is difficult to diagnose, the treatment effect of gallbladder cancer is poor. The main symptoms of advanced gallbladder cancer are right upper abdominal pain, jaundice, hard masses in the right upper abdomen, and weight loss. The presence of jaundice indicates that there is lymph node metastasis and obstruction of the extrahepatic bile duct, and the tumor cannot be surgically removed; combined with stone obstruction, jaundice may also occur. Gallbladder cancer directly spreads to the stomach and duodenum, which can cause gastric pyloric obstruction. The metastasis of gallbladder cancer is early and extensive, and the most common is liver metastasis. Cholangiocarcinoma refers to cancer originating in the extrahepatic bile duct, excluding intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder cancer, and ampullary cancer. It is divided into upper bile duct cancer, middle bile duct cancer, and lower bile duct cancer. The main manifestations are rapidly progressive obstructive jaundice, weight loss, gallbladder enlargement, liver enlargement, and digestive tract symptoms; loss of appetite, indigestion, fear of greasy food, etc. Abdominal pain and acute cholangitis symptoms are rare, and it is difficult to distinguish them from pancreatic head cancer or periampullary cancer clinically. In the late stage, obvious weight loss, fatigue and cachexia can be seen.

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone should know that gallbladder cancer is not contagious. However, if gallbladder cancer is not treated in time, it is easy to cause more serious diseases, so I hope everyone can pay enough attention to it.
