Is gallbladder cancer contagious?

Gallbladder tumors are the first among malignant tumors in the gallbladder of the human body. Other diseases include carcinoid, sarcoma, giant cell adenocarcinoma, primary malignant melanoma, etc. Is gallbladder cancer contagious? This is the question that patients and their families want to know the answer to the most. The following is a detailed introduction by experts.

Generally speaking, viruses are contagious, but the infectivity of different viruses varies. After viral infection, only 1% to 1% of people will develop clinical symptoms, while more people will not develop symptoms and are in a latent infection state. Whether or not a person develops symptoms after viral infection is closely related to the body's defense function. If the body's defense function is strong, even if there is a viral infection, the person may not develop the disease for life. It has been determined that more than 100 viruses can cause more than 30 types of tumors in animals. Some viruses can also cause human tumors. In this way, there is an objective material basis for the possibility of tumor transmission. Viruses or such virus particles have also been found in human Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, breast cancer, leukemia, cervical cancer, and melanoma.
In addition, since gallbladder cancer has no specific and typical symptoms in the early stage and is difficult to diagnose, the treatment effect of gallbladder tumors is poor. The main symptoms of advanced gallbladder cancer are right upper abdominal pain, jaundice, a hard mass in the right upper abdomen, and weight loss. The presence of jaundice indicates that there has been lymph node metastasis and extrahepatic bile duct obstruction, and the tumor can no longer be surgically removed; jaundice may also occur if combined with stone obstruction. Gallbladder tumors spread directly to the stomach and duodenum, which can cause gastric pyloric obstruction. Gallbladder cancer metastasizes early and widely, with liver metastasis being the most common.
