What medicine to take to prevent colon cancer

What medicine should I take to prevent colorectal cancer? It is reported that healthy habits such as controlling body fat can prevent 45% of colorectal cancer. On the contrary, obese people are more than half as likely to develop colorectal cancer as ordinary people. However, medical scientists plan to study drugs for early prevention of colorectal cancer to break these data.

The study found that a high-calorie diet shuts down the expression of guanylate in the small intestine, leading to the inactivation of a tumor suppressor pathway.

Researchers led by Dr. Scott Waldman, PhD, of Jefferson University in Philadelphia conducted experiments on mice to study the link between obesity and colorectal cancer. They found that obesity (excessive intake of fat or carbohydrates, or both) is associated with the loss of the hormone guanylin. Guanylin is produced in the cells lining the small intestine, or epithelium, which is constantly replaced by a new lining and is relatively dynamic. This dynamic regeneration is aided by a receptor called guanylin cyclase (GUCY2C), and guanylin is the hormone that turns on this receptor.

The guanylin hormone receptor appears to play an inhibitory role in controlling tumor growth. Without this hormone, the guanylin hormone receptor remains "silent" in the early stages of cancer, causing epithelial dysfunction and creating an environment for tumor growth and development.

Dr. Waldman and his team were surprised by the link shown in the study, which is also being studied by researchers around the world. The team suggests that colorectal cancer could be prevented in obese people through hormone replacement therapy, the same way that diabetes is treated with insulin.

Waldman said: "There is a link between calories, obesity and colorectal cancer, but the mechanism of this link is the most complex and thorny problem in cancer research. Now, we finally have a major clue about the origin of colorectal cancer in obese people or other people." The research team believes that colorectal cancer continues to develop in the body by remaining "silent" through this mechanism. In addition, this "silent" situation is more likely to occur in obese people.

However, there is good news: the drug linaclotide (Linzess) is similar in structure to the missing hormone and can be used to prevent colorectal cancer in obese people. The US FDA approved linaclotide for marketing in 2012 for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation and unexplained long-term constipation (chronic idiopathic constipation).

In addition, according to Shengnuoyijia, the largest American medical service agency in my country, in addition to linaclotide, which has not yet been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the prevention of colorectal cancer, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the United States believes that we can also consider taking aspirin and vitamin D supplements appropriately to prevent colorectal cancer.
