How to prevent colon cancer

How to prevent colon cancer

The occurrence of colon cancer makes patients suffer a lot and causes dry stools. It also causes changes in the frequency of bowel movements and makes them frequent. Therefore, we need to pay attention to the occurrence of colon cancer and pay attention to our living habits to effectively prevent this disease to avoid causing more harmful consequences. Next, let's take a look at the common prevention points for colon cancer.

Point 1: Check regularly.

People at high risk of colorectal cancer, such as men over 40 years old, patients with familial multiple intestinal polyps, patients with ulcerative colitis, patients with chronic schistosomiasis and those with a family history of colorectal cancer should have regular check-ups and be alert to the signs and early symptoms of colorectal cancer, such as changes in bowel habits, alternating diarrhea and constipation, bloody or black stools, and flatter and thinner stools.

Point 2: Improve eating habits.

Arrange your daily diet reasonably, eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and other foods rich in carbohydrates and crude fiber, appropriately increase the proportion of coarse grains and whole grains in the staple food, and do not eat too fine or too refined. Change the habit of eating meat and high-protein foods as the staple food. Eat less high-fat foods, especially control the intake of animal fat. Therefore, a high-fat, high-protein, low-fiber diet produces many carcinogens, which act on the large intestine for a long time, and will inevitably lead to an increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer. Therefore, eat less or no foods rich in saturated fat and cholesterol, including: lard, butter, fat, animal offal, fish roe, etc. Vegetable oil is limited to about 20-30 grams per person per day (about 2-3 tablespoons).

Do not eat or eat less fried food. Eat moderate amounts of foods containing unsaturated fatty acids, such as olive oil, tuna, etc. Supplement more than 35 grams of dietary fiber every day. Eat more foods rich in dietary fiber: konjac, soybeans and their products, fresh vegetables and fruits, seaweed, etc. Replace refined grains with some coarse grains. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to supplement carotene and vitamin C. Eat moderate amounts of walnuts, peanuts, dairy products, seafood, etc. to supplement vitamin E. Pay attention to the intake of foods rich in trace elements such as malt, fish, mushrooms, etc.

Point 3: Actively prevent and treat intestinal diseases and exercise actively.

Prevent various polyps, chronic enteritis (including ulcerative colitis), schistosomiasis, chronic dysentery, etc. Intestinal polyps should be treated early. There are five major categories of colorectal polyps, namely adenomatous polyps, biochemical polyps, inflammatory polyps, hamartomatous polyps, etc. Among them, adenomatous polyps are true tumor polyps and a precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer. Therefore, when adenoma is found in the large intestine, it should be treated, the adenoma should be removed and pathological examination should be performed. It is hoped that it will be removed at the benign adenoma stage to prevent colorectal cancer. If not treated early, most of them will develop colorectal cancer and the prognosis is poor. In addition, habitual constipation should be actively treated and attention should be paid to keeping bowel movements smooth.
